Warriors stay alive with 3-1 win over UCSD

Sorry, out a Mililani for a track meet.

Sophomore opposite Brook Sedore put down 19 kills and sophomore middle Taylor Averill added 13 as No. 13 Hawaii downed UC San Diego 25-20, 15-25, 25-21, 25-23 tonight in a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation volleyball match in La Jolla, Calif.

The Warriors (11-16, 9-14 MPSF) remained alive in the hunt for the eighth and last MPSF tournament playoff. Hawaii needs to beat UC San Diego again Saturday and have Cal State Northridge lose to Long Beach State.

The Warriors were without their two leading outside hitters, freshman Siki Zarkovic and sophomore JP Marks. Zarkovic, injured during practice last wee, was available to play if needed.

Marks, a German national, did not make the road trip over questions regarding his eligibility.

“…questions regarding his eligibility…” What does that mean? Sounds kinda scary…But I’m glad that UH won…

What? i don’t like hearing that about JP. Why are these questions only now coming up??

I don’t know. I was told earlier that he didn’t make the trip, someone mentioned they saw him on campus today. But I couldn’t confirm before I went to track.

Great news a bout Tuileta though. I just hope the kid doesn’t give up on volleyball though. He would really help mens volleyball a lot with fan interest and he’s a very smart player and best of all UH volleyball won’t have to use any of the 4.5 to get him.

I’m wondering who will start at setter tomorrow

According to a SDSU photo, they beat Hawaii 3-1 (17-25, 26-24, 32-30, 25-23). Makes me wonder if Shoji was subbing or just letting girls get playing time or if SDSU was just that good.

I doubt Hartong hit, so no big deal. San Diego St is no pushover.
