Warrior-Cardinal rewind

Another five-setter. Not really surprised but was surprised that Hawaii was so flat in Set 5. They really gave up the momentum at the end of Set 4 and let Stanford hang around. The Cardinal took that momentum over int Set 5.

Zarkovic took way too many swings … 16-8-46. think it showed late with his serving. Warriors finish with 9 aces, 12 SEs.

Sedore with 5 aces, 6 blocks and 13 kills. Averill 12 kills 7 blocks, Marks 13 kills, Holt 8 and 6 locks.

Irvin 27 kils and Cook 20 for the Cardinal. 5 aces, 14 SEs. but steadier in Set 5 then Hawaii.

Hawaii does have problems playing with a lead. They seem to lose focus, but that’s what you get when you have such a young starting lineup. 4 sophomores, a freshman and a new setter.

It’s a tough league. We’ll see what adjustments they make tomorrow.

What a bummer – but they can win tonight. Go Warriors!

Did I miss something? Why isn’t Nick West playing? Injured?

This game was very frustration to watch. I never thought I would say it, but I miss Nick West. He has a great serve and that is what wins matches. Holt, Marks, and Siki had off nights. Jobe is very fast at getting to the ball but tends to set a”jump ball” type set which doesn’t allow the outsides to get a full look and a full swing. He is getting better each match. This team need a win tonight to validate how far they have come.

Served pretty well, but too many missed serves at the wrong time…UH should have won set 3…

Agreed. They should have got set 3. They had so much opportunities but blew it. IMHO this whole match was pretty ugly. Hopefully tonight is a good match.

West has an abdominal strain but he is available to play. Just hasn’t been used.

Is there anyone who can play Marks’ position? Perhaps Wade should try someone else because he makes too many errors. I don’t think it hurts to find out if someone else can play. Sedore has worked out fine except last night he also made too many mistakes.

There’s Timmer, and maybe Thomas ( when he signed he was listed as MB/OPP) and Scott Hartley who seems to be in the doghouse and hasn’t played all season not sure why?

  10. Ron February 2, 2013 2:28 pm

I would like to see Josh Olsen get another chance. He has a very good serve and he is athletic. Timmer’s serve every rotation would also be nice.

I would like to see Wade sub out players that aren’t playing well, Sedore, Siki and JP struggled last night, Mayb Jace would have been hot or Timmer??

Also wanna see Max and Aneifre get a chance. there’s got to be a reason why they started the season opener.

Timmer was their serving specialist last night. think Zarkovic struggled because he was being doubled teamed all match. Olsen has been having knee problems.
