Wahine stay at No. 5 in sand poll

released today, April 4 Wahine are traveling to Irvine Valley for a match Friday. The Lasers are coached by former Rainbow Tom Pestolesi, assisted by daughter Kari.

1-2 stay the same

1. Pepperdine 10-0. 2. The Beach 9-1

3-4 flop. Florida State 9-2 up to 3, USC 9-4 down to 4


5. UH 3-3. Tied for 6 Nebraska 4-5, up from 9, UCLA 2-3, was at 7

8. Florida International 5-5 down 2 spots, 9. Tulane 7-2, was unranked. 10. Stanford 1-0 stays at 10.

    You must have been in a hurry when you typed this entry. Today is April 4, not April 11. And UH at #5 is 3-3, not 5-5. 🙂

    That match against Irvine valley will be interesting only because some of those Irvine Valley girls could end up as rainbow wahine next season.

    So I just heard the AVCA is changing the name to Beach volleyball instead of sand. I hope this is true. It should be called beach volleyball, it was called that at the Olympics in London ( where there are no beaches) so it should be called that in the NCAA too.

    hadn’t heard that. The thinking initially was to encourage non-beach area schools to take up the sport by being more generic with sand.
    agree WF that some of tho IVC players could be at UH, as Mendoza did.
