Is the US team that good or Brazil just not playing up to their ranking. Can’t belive they got swept.Maybe their holding back till they get here. Hope there’s a good crowd.
Anyone have any idea as to how the ticket sales are going?

Don’t know about holding back. Historically, the U.S. has the edge in international competition but they’ve lost in the Olympic finals the past two Games.
These are considered ‘friendlies.’ it’s not counting towards anything. But the U.S. is giving its younger players some international experience. The Olympics still 2 years off.
Sales going well. expecting a crowd larger than at Bren (4,000) didn’t see the number from USC.
with all the JO teams getting back assuming sales will pick up this week from the club teams.

You also have to remember that Brazil pulled out of the Pan Ams. heard there were a few injuries but they had already qualified for the next major tournament so decided to withdraw

On thing brought up on VT was that with US using so many new players, Brazil doesn’t have much to scout on. These matches have now given Brazil some insight to the players.

Matches as the SSC should be good!

Oh….and something about Brazil’s original flight into LA was delayed significantly.

Both team will have to deal with travel coming to Hawaii.

Official attendance 4,700 + (forgot the actual number) at UCI per announcers on live feed,no word about USC but it sounded and looked like a good size crowd. Both talking heads felt Hawai`i would be a sell out but I disagree with that.

Just checked our site and lower bowl close to being full not many seats left in most sections, the $150.00 tickets lagging. Saturday looking like the big day for attendance. Could still be a good size walk up crowd for those who prefer the upper deck, plenty available up there.

That was a great clip between sets on the live feed about the Aloha Volleyball Club in Honolulu.

  8. LC July 7, 2014 9:23 am

Clarification it was about Rod Suzumoto’s Aloha Beach Volleyball Club. You can see it on the reply right after the first set yesterday at the 1:49:39 mark.
    It was really well done.

    5. mentioned in my story … think Sunday … that Brazil’s flight was originally canceled but they got in Thursday night. Only thing was they missed their scheduled 5 p.m. practice.
    7. Rod does a nice job. did a story on them a few years ago.

    6. agree, doubt if it will be a sellout. maybe 7,000-8,000?

  11. Cindy Luis July 7, 2014 12:35 pm

    4. the U.S. is changing rosters between California and Hawaii matches. not sure how much use scouting last week will be.

  12. Brandon July 9, 2014 3:56 pm
