Who you comparing the U.S.A team to? A 5’10” all state player in Kailua High School? Off course the U.S.A. team got swept. Looks who’s playing on the world tour? 4 main island competition. Too small a number still to go on a world tour.

tiki, wish i understood your posts.
This is the U.S. men’s national team
They are not on tour. They are competing in World League play.
There is no 5-10 player from Kailua on the roster

So far only FIVB posted the match description, results and stats. I checked USA Volleyball first and when I saw that the match wasn’t reported, I had a feeling USA lost and they didn’t want to spoil the holiday mood being Fourth of July (unless the webmaster took a holiday break).

If USA loses to Serbia again, then Serbia will move into first place. The one home match loss to Bulgaria really set USA back. If Russia wins both matches, then that team could also get ahead of USA which would send our boys home. Our team needs one more great hitter. Sander and Anderson can’t do it alone. Former All Americans, Sean Rooney and Carson Clark, have disappointed.

According to secondary sources from California, not anything is U.S.A. coach, Karch Karaly. Why listen to him if you’re an all american? Serbia is the opponent.

had been checking all day as well. don’t think the webmaster was on holiday because they have other things posted from today. My guess is BJ, who is their media person, didn’t have reliable internet in order to get things sent.
U.S. needs to win Sunday. If they lose, they are out.

    4. Tiki, Karch is the women’s coach.
John Speraw coaches the men’s team.

By the way, the USA vs Brazil matches roster is out.
    http://www.teamusa.org/USA-Volleyball/Features/2014/July/01/Rosters-Set-for-Womens-USA-Volleyball-Cup

Sorry, Tamari Miyasharo didn’t make the roster at all and neither did the other libero, Natalie Hagglund from USC. Still, USC will have the other former Trojan libero, Nicole Davis.

Also two other Olympians were left out, setter Courtney Thompson and middle blocker Crista Harmotto.

Also, Destinee Hooker did not make the roster either. She had a baby some months ago and probably she didn’t get back in shape. Anyone knows if she might return to the USA team in the future?

Brazil with a loaded Olympian roster definitely has the advantage here.

Sorry I missed your previous post on the roster with Brazil. My comments should have gone there in a modified fashion. Still, I was disappointed with the USA roster but it couldn’t be helped. No one is at fault here.

  9. Cindy Luis July 4, 2014 9:50 pm

    7. posted that on wednesday. it’s the previous thread.
Hooker has not been in camp for quite some time.
Brazil has nine of their 16 on the USAV Cup roster with Olympic experience, four who have 2 gold medals.

I apologize for all my errors including the wrong statement that Courtney Thompson was not on the team. She is.

  11. Cindy Luis July 5, 2014 6:30 am

    10. no worries. how many times have I had to apologize here?
The U.S. names different rosters for different competitions.
The rosters for the California matches are not the same. They have the same roster for the Hawaii matches but that travel team is a little different than this weekend’s matches.
Useless trivia: Thompson and Miyashiro share a place near the beach, not far from the training center.

A note to Tiki808. Your disparaging comment was deleted.
and no, I’m not from Oregon.

harmotto is not on the roster, but it’s been mentioned on volleytalk that she recently got married, and may be on her honeymoon.

  14. Cindy Luis July 5, 2014 10:42 am

Harmoto got married last weekend. Believe Miyashiro was a bridesmaid. If not, she did attend the wedding June 28.
    roster for the Cup has
    A. Glass, Banwarth, Thompson, Paolini, Davis, LIchtman, Gibbemeyer, Hildegrand, Larson-Burbach, Murphy, Fawcett, Hill, Akinradewo, Klineman, Adams, Robins, Dixon.
As mentioned earlier, they are using different rosters for the two matches in California and two in Hawaii.
