U.S. men fall to Brazil
http://www.teamusa.org/USA-Volleyball/Features/2015/July/16/Brazil-Cuts-US-Mens-Comeback-Short
U.S. loses 28-26, 22-25, 25-22, 27-25 in Rio.
Christenson was the setter, was in on 3 blocks with 6 digs. Erik Shoji at Libero had 9 digs. Kawika Shoji did not play
The U.S. (0-1) must beat France (1-0) on Friday if it hopes to advance from the pool to the semifinals and defend its title. France is on a 15-match World League winning streak including a 3-1 win over Brazil (1-1) Wednesday.
then it gets a little convoluted:
If the U.S. beats France 3-0, then the U.S. and Brazil (1-1) will advance to the quarterfinals. If the U.S. beats France, 3-1, then all three teams in the pool will be tied and the tie-breaker will be the points ratio. If the U.S. defeats France 3-2, France and Brazil will advance.
At least the USA women are doing well so far, having won all of their Grand Prix matches. The last one with Japan is available for viewing online. There were great long rallies with lots of fantastic digs, really fun to watch. The short Japanese ladies are so scrappy on defense. All sets were very close.

1. thanks. I’ve been remiss in following the women. Miyashiro had her second start Thursday.
Men advance with 3-1 win over France. Brazil is eliminated.
