Hendrik Mol and his partner finished 4th at the FIVB U21 beach world championships. I saw two of his matches Mol played well, other teams served his shorter partner almost exclusively and then he could not deliver offensively from Mol’s sets, which hurt them in the semifinals big time.
Mol was pretty much unstoppable when he was set, except for a few errors.

Congrats to Brit, I wonder if her partner will be Nikki Taylor next season?

If she plays sand again I expect Taylor to partner with Spieler again.Katie has spent the summer playing in the CBVA and has some top finishes.

Brittany will probably partner with the German girl Lara Schriber is my guess right now or maybe Sammie Brown.

Alright! Good job Tiegs and way to represent the Sandbows! They must be doing good things in Manoa

    3. Agree with LC. Don’t think they’ll break up Taylor-Spieler. Wong is big on chemistry and that pair had it.
Tiegs-Cook was an interesting pair of similar skill set. Not the biggest block but won a lot of points on serve and smart hitting.
They’ll start figuring it out when they go into preseason fall camp.

I think Taylor/Tiegs would have a better chance at winning it all.
Pairs always seem to be different every season under Wong.
I wish Scott recruited the Canadian pair that won the U21 championship, they were good, I’m jealous that Long Beach got one of them. She puts up a wall.

congrats to Tiegs and Pardon …

Glad its finally official but i was hoping that Benedictr Maaseide and Jelena Wlk would be included in the class or some other surprises.
Excited Scott mentioned some of the nee indoor players will play sand too I am guessing he meant Koelsch, Kahakai and Greeley!

Believe BM is still apart of the class but since she plans on attending UH in January for spring semester (after she passes the tests needed to qualify) thats probably why she wasn’t mentioned.

I was wondering about Maaseide also but I was just reading an article from Norway today, it’s dated June 24, 2014 and this is what she said about Hawai`i

    – If I get through the tests needed, I move to Hawaii in January and will hopefully remain for four years, she said.

Alana has recently completed three years at Sand high school volleyball.A representative from the school in Hawaii showed up at school this spring and got a taste for MÃ¥seide games.
    – It is a great opportunity for me, but it’s going to be hard work. Great school, lots of training, she said.
    ******

What is confusing to me is that she just finished her 3rd year of high school that would make her a 2015 recruit but she might be like Jade and going to graduate in December.

BTW there actually is a town called Sand in Norway,Google it.

    15. Yep , and Warrior Hendrik Mol is from Sand, Norway as well. And he’s a kick ass sand player too.
Really hope Maaseide makes it to UH in January and in time for the sand season. Masseide and Guinasso look like they could be twins.

  12. formerlywarriorfan July 30, 2014 7:02 pm

If Maaseide makes it to UH next season, these should be the top 5 Pairs IMO

    Tiegs/Taylor
    Schreiber/Brown
    Spieler/Greeley
    Maaseide/Long
    Chow/Riggs or Guinasso/Riggs

I put Tiegs with Taylor because Taylor has a huge block and more college sand experience than Schreiber and I just think she and Tiegs would have the best chance of getting Tiegs the pairs championship in her last season.

I think Schreiber and Brown would make a good pairing too and give Tiegs/Taylor a run for the top spot. Brown at 5′ 10 and Schrieber at 6′ 1 would have good size to compete at nationals.

I put Spieler with Greeley because I think Spieler needs to be paired up with someone with size. After watching a lot of club games Greeley has played this past spring, I think her game would be perfect for the beach, and I assume she will have a nice debut like Taylor did last season.

I could also see Tiegs with Schrieber. I wouldn’t pair her with Brown though, because they would be on the smallish side. In the championship last season they struggled with Burnham at 6′ 2.

    New thread posted.
    9. if Scott does what he did last year, during indoor practice he asks who is interested in playing sand to move over to one side of the court. Since the indoor players are considered walk-ons, he wouldn’t mention them in this class for 2015.
