Thursday checkin, Top 25 scores

Practice later today as per the routine for home matches.
Long Beach is already here, they practiced Wednesday.

had an email off the blog about the POW nominations.
The SID did tell me that he put in Taylor because of her overall stats. Said that Magill was a very viable candidate and in hindsight might have been the better choice. Mentioned earlier that the volleyball SID also got men’s basketball dumped on him without much notice and was a bit distracted.

will check in after practice

Olivia will get her POW sooner or later. This weekend would be a most excellent opportunity!

Thank you for clarifying the issue, Cindy!

  2. Brandon November 6, 2014 1:01 pm

Someone on volleytalk, who usually gets these things right and is connected said iosia is looking at Hawaii and he thinks she will most likely go here. That’s amazing news. She’s definatly one, if not the best setter of her class and one of the top recruits

  3. Cindy Luis November 6, 2014 1:15 pm

she would be 2016. Higgins would be a senior, Koelsch a junior would make sense if they bring her in as a redshirt if things stay the way they are

  4. Warriorfan November 6, 2014 1:38 pm

Im still holding out hope that the 2016 class will be Norene Iosia and Kathryn Plummer, although Plummer seems like a long shot now that Stanford is involved.

  5. Warriorfan November 6, 2014 1:47 pm

And I think Iosia could start as a freshmen.

  6. oldtimer808 November 6, 2014 2:50 pm

Mahalo Warriorfan for putting the full name of the two recruits. I guess people assume we know who the person is by the last name.

  7. AdmrVT November 6, 2014 3:58 pm

#4. With regard to Stanford, the key may be if they change to allow their indoor players to also play sand, or if Plummer is willing to forego sand. That is why USC is not in the mix.

Good move by LBS. Extra time to maybe take in some sights.

  10. Cindy Luis November 6, 2014 7:39 pm

    9. don’t think they’re sight-seeing. but better to acclimate. Although they were in Gym II Wednesday, Gym I Thursday. UH was in Gym I since Tuesday. The SSC unavailable due to men’s basketball vs. HPU

    2. Where on volley talk?

  13. LC November 7, 2014 5:18 am

“better to acclimate” That is what I was attempting to get across in a previous discussion here about Wahine travel. Lets see if the extra time here pays off for the 49ers tonight.

  14. wildcard November 7, 2014 8:54 am

whatever it is. na wahine better be ready defend their ‘aina tonight.

  15. haleiwacrossfitter November 7, 2014 9:51 am

yeah, we are already at a disadvantage with being the “lone wolf” of traveling with teams only playing one match the week before us while we play two and they only play us the next week. We play four matches in the two weeks when opponents only play twice in those weeks. They have almost two weeks to prepare for us…it’s ridiculous. And when you compound that we, in my opinion, don’t travel up early enough to acclimate like other teams tend to do with us, it’s just another possible disadvantage. Brian G is setting up LB in a good position to win the conference title this year. He is doing all the right little things to help his team be successful.

I wish Dave would stop being such a nice guy and stop volunteering to be the lone wolf. We need to be selfish about that and fight for fairness.

  16. haleiwacrossfitter November 7, 2014 9:52 am

And yes…where in VT is that saying Iosia is leaning towards Hawaii? Which thread is it in?

  17. haleiwacrossfitter November 7, 2014 9:56 am

Oh….and no way is Plummer coming here. I don’t think Hawaii is even in the picture. I think that is just a fan’s wishful thinking and hoping just because she posts on the beach team’s website. She is friends with some of the beach girls, but that does not mean she will come to Hawaii just because of that.

I would love to eat crow if for some miraculous way she does come here, but I would not count on it. Like I said, I don’t even think we are on her list.

  18. Brandon November 7, 2014 10:09 am

Texas recruiting thread is where the poster mentions iosia and don’t count Plummer out. She wants to play for a great sand and indoor team, and usc doesn’t sllow players to play both. Hawaii would be a great fit for her

  19. AdmrVT November 7, 2014 10:51 am

#18. That is also what I had read. The latest question is Stanford who apparently is recruiting her. But, same Q as USC — do they allow their indoor players to also play sand.

Pepperdine was also mentioned as another option, as the allow their indoor players to also play sand.

  20. Brandon November 7, 2014 11:21 am

Yes they do, stanfords sand program is all indoor players, but they aren’t that good in sand YET. So maybe Plummer will go there, but hawaii isn’t out of the question

  21. Kazu November 7, 2014 11:24 am

Wahine needs to bring their A+ game tonight and tomorrow night. LBS has lots of rest. Wonder if CSUN is already here. Hope they have a large and loud crowd this week end.

  22. Cindy Luis November 7, 2014 2:19 pm

    11. Never said UH would host a sub-regional. can’t see how they would unless something very strange happens. their RPI is at 30 and no way can they get it down in the top 16

are you predicting pairings for sand? those won’t be determined until after indoor is done.

  23. Cindy Luis November 7, 2014 4:13 pm

    23. thanks for posting the link to the preset regionals and final four site.
many may not know where those are this year
Regionals: Louisville, Iowa State, Minnesota and Washington. FF in OKC

Of the four regional sites only Washington is in the top 16 of the RPI.
Iowa State at 23, Minnesota 50, Louisville 58

  24. haleiwacrossfitter November 7, 2014 4:26 pm

Well, I hope I’m wrong and Plummer does come here, but I guess it really depends on what she wants because once Stanford is in the picture…Hawaii is not. But I am not getting my hopes up on someone like her who is possibly a top 5 recruit, or even higher, with no ties to the islands (at least none that I am aware of). Iosia, on the other hand, I believe has ties to the islands, so her coming here is definitely more realistic. And, yes that poster is usually correct with his/her inside info. And Iosia is a game changer for sure, almost Carlini like…..almost.

And I think USC is the only program that does not allow their indoor players to play sand, so that leaves A LOT of programs to choose from.

Excited for tonight!!! Wahine need to kick some 49er butt!! I don’t even want it to be close with either team this weekend. I want na wahine to dominate both LBSU and CSUN.

  25. warriorfan November 7, 2014 5:25 pm

Saw utah sweep USC, Anae is a good player. Lots of potential. Wouldn’t mind if she gets homesick and transfers. She would definitely help offensively, lots of power.

  26. Beauston November 7, 2014 6:27 pm

    No pre match updates?

  27. wildcard November 7, 2014 6:46 pm

    hawai’i vs the beach blog?

  28. WaWa November 7, 2014 7:01 pm

Does anyone know if the HHSAA semi’s will be streamed online?! Thanks!

  29. Cindy Luis November 7, 2014 7:10 pm

new thread is up, includes top 25 scores

  30. Cindy Luis November 8, 2014 9:47 am

    7. don’t know where you got the idea that Stanford doesn’t allow indoor to play sand. Most of their sand team is from the indoor roster. The issue is they don’t offer scholarships yet, which is why Cook transferred to Hawaii to play
