Natasha Burns is “fait accompli” till 2016, red-shirt notwithstanding. (She has not practiced with the team in awhile and her conditioning is questionable.) Road trip side note: a nutritionist/dietitian can ensure team is energized; albeit, jet-lag and travel arrangements need to be scrutinized. (i.e. no more long bus rides, fly to playing site)

CSUN playing UCSB tonight. Anybody knows what is happening to Gauchos’ Huffman and Ruddins, as both have been out of lineup for several matches?

1. not sure what you’re talking about. Burns began practicing last week and is fully cleared to practice this week. Yes, she is red-shirting. no sense not to. And won’t be on the road trips.

Saw Jennings Franciscovic while waiting for Wahine practice.
update on their trip. They leave Wednesday for California and, if I can remember it all, they are at USC and Pepperdine Friday, late morning then late afternoon.
Then Saturday they are at Long Beach State. Think UCLA is somewhere in the schedule. But they are planning to be at the Wahine-Beach match next Friday.

4. As far as Ruddins and Hoffman…not sure what is happening with them. Very little has been reported as to why they aren’t playing other than just saying they are injured.
Man…if they had everyone on board, including Spindt, they would be right there with Hawaii. Very unfortunate to what is going on in SB.

#11 Thanks. Totally agree. Watched that match on BW TV. The Gauchos would be a totally different team with Huffman and Ruddins starting. I am also assuming they are still injured. While their setters are not quite there, all the other pieces are in place. They remind me so such of the old slightly undersized wahine teams of the past. They are really fun to watch and should be dangerous next year.
Hate to waste a red shirt year for Burns….but when you have only one loss. Think UH, should go for the Gold and win it all. Take Burns on the trip and work her out…she can rests our starter’s on this long road trip. Why save her in case of a injury to a middle player. I say, go for it and play her now! You do what you have to and win it all this year. Don’t worry about next year.

14. they don’t need her this season so why waste a year, especially this late in the season. She may be practicing but she’s not in playing shape. They can travel up to 14 on a road trip but my guess is they only take the 13 healthy players (which means Mitchem and Burns stay in Honolulu).
Castillo is the third middle so they don’t need Burns.

#13, Ebony transferring to Texas is pretty old news. It’s that she isn’t playing at Texas either right now. I’m assuming because of her back or another injury as well. I’m sure they could of used her against Texas Tech…oops, I mean TCU. 🙂 🙂
(ok, I’ll stop, I just think that what happened was so out of this world weird)

1 & 3. that is funny!
Adding to that road trip side note:
When does the wahine leave for Cali to go on their big road trip? I sure hope its earlier like no later than Wednesday November 4 arrival and no more ridiculous red eyes or something spooky like last year.

17. my understanding is they leave Wednesday afternoon for the Friday match.
I think we need to end the ridiculous misconception about the redeyes. they may take afternoon flights, get in late evening. but they aren’t playing the next day. (IE arrive Wednesday night, play Friday)
the red-eye flight last year that created problems was because of plane delay. it wasn’t the scheduled itinerary. and they still got there 36 hours before the had to play the next night

Don’t know much about history…Don’t know much geography…Don’t know much about a science book…Don’t know much about the French I took… But I do know that I going miss Annie (in the middle). She can block and execute slide, but I notice that Maglio getting real good too. Oh what a wonderful world …

Looking ahead… with the graduation of Olivia, besides Mitchem, Maglio, & Burns, do we have any middles projected to join the Wahine next season?

20. the recruits signing next month are
Norene Iosia (5’11” Setter) California/Redondo Union HS
-Kirsten Sibley (6’2″ Outside) California/Campolindo HS
-Emma Smith (5’8″ Libero) California/Mira Costa HS
Believe Smith is an invited walk-on since they only have two scholarships
Next season you have Maglio and Mitchem in the middle. Castillo played middle in high school so she could be No. 3 or she could be LS next year with the loss of Manu-Olevao.

8. I was curious myself (though I forgot her name and you reminded me). So I googled and found out that she left USC after sustaining a back injury.
