Saturday checkin, Beach VB fundraiser
Team had morning practice, took team picture before hand.
Both Maglio and Taylor were being ‘rested’ according to Shoji.
Nothing exciting really. They used several lineups during scrimmages. Mitchem played left, right but mostly middle.
Koels had some nice swings on the outside, as did Ross.
Greeley took a few swings in the front row but she’s not 100 percent still.
Forget if I mentioned this

GOOD AFTERNOON, HAWAII!
Cindy – thanks for all you do.
I think Dave is very happy with his coaching “brain trust” that surrounds him this year. I only go back 14 years as a Wahine fan but he seems more comfortable trying different scenarios this year than in the past. He has also never had this kind of depth before. This could be the year! I was a LBS, UCI and UCSB fan depending who was winning. I was always amazed by all the crazy fans in green when ever Hawaii was the opponent. Once I moved here I understood.
Cindy I noticed beach volleyball put up an ad looking for an assistant coach, did Silberstein leave or are they adding someone?
1. you’re welcome.
2. very true about the fan base.
on another note from yesterday, someone asked about the assistant vb job opening posted on UH. As mentioned yesterday, it is for the beach program.
The position has been upgraded to full time, which requires a job posting. Currently held by part-timer Evan Silberstein. I would assume that he’s the front runner for the full-time position.
3. see answer that I was posting before your post came through.
Interesting match going on: Ohio St. leading Nebraska 2-1 & 15-8 in the 4th in Lincoln…
Texas beat KSU in 5…
Ohio State wins in 4…
USC & Utah going to 5…
Beach beat UCSB 3-0…
Coach might try the “quicker” version of the 1 set. MH goes up and setter shoots her the ball. This method gives the setter an idea of how high to set the ball.
Note: If the MB goes up with the MH, the setter shoots the ball to one of the pins (fast set) for a one-on-one.
Currently, Iosia has to guess how high to set the ball, then the MH goes up to hit it. Higgins had the same problem. Koelsch, being the same height as Magill, had less of a problem.
