think we finally have it sorted out about TV for Wednesday against USC. Even thought the times are up for Sunday, those might change after they see how Wednesday’s time frame goes.
And, yes, it’s free admission. They were working on shade the last I was told but bring an umbrella or hat just in case. Bleachers are metal so bring something to sit on.
Hall is very excited that these matches will be televised live. A first for collegiate sand. Said it will add to the recruiting pitch.
As posted on previous thread:
Two courts being used for first two groups of matches, one court for the final two pairs.
4 p.m. start for pairs 5 and 6, 15 minutes after those end, they’ll go with the 3 and 4 pairs.
There likely will be a bit of a break in between the end of the 3-4 and the start of No. 2 at 7 p.m. 15 minutes after that is done then they’ll go with the No. 1 pairs.
Cal and Nebraska in also for duals as well as Queen of the Beach. That tournament has UH, USC, Cal and Nebraska. It was supposed to be at Queen’s both days but Spike & Serve is also hosting the Dad Center Challenge Saturday & Sunday. So UH’s tournament will be at Queen’s Friday and UH on Saturday.
The weirdness: Spike & Serve is run by Kevin Wong. He set up this tournament when his brother Scott was still the SandBows coach. K. Wong told me he invited UH to participate but the school’s compliance ruling was that it was a perceived nepotism. Not sure why since it wasn’t like Hawaii would be the only team entered. K. Wong said he hopes that now Hall is the coach that compliance will see things differently next year.
So the other random:
People have been curious about Wade’s trip to the Netherlands and they threw out a few names on the previous thread. From what I’ve been told, it is a 6-7/6-8 OH for next school year.
Let the googling begin.
