See http://volleytalk.proboards.com/thread/68169/rpi-on-out
Go bows!
wieczorek, who had no kills in Set 1 Friday is 3-0-4 so far in Set 1
Odd Waves call a timeout leading 14-13. didn’t wait for the TTO
Pepperdine leads at the TTO 15-14
No. 1 Ohio State taken to five at GCU, wins 25-18, 22-25, 25-22, 25-27, 15-11
WOW, the rally of the set got my heart pumping. UH boys have to keep finding pukas. They are trailing when they need to take the lead here to close the set.
Franciskovic with his first dump, gives UH a 21-20 lead. TO Pepperdine
Scores from Saturday
UCLA def. UCSD, 25-19, 25-11,22-25, 25-21
UC Irvine def. UCSB, 25-23, 25-27, 18-25, 28-26, 18-16.
Warriors win 25-22, finish it out 5-2 run
UH pulls away at 9-4. TO Pepperdine.
UH up 15-10 at the TTO. on van Tilburg’s 11th kill. he is 11-1-15. Fey 8-2-21. they are camping on Franciskovic thinking dump. but he’s not as offensive tonight 1-0-2.
UH up 16=10 TO Waves.
Franciskovic and Gasman have been working on the shoot set and it’s not working.
10. When you wrote that UCLA lost set 3 by the score of 2-25, I couldn’t believe that they scored only two points, so I went to check UCLA website and then I realized it was a typo. They lost that set 22-25. Just wanted to clarify so that no other puzzled fan would have to go and check.
Worsley in for Franciskovic, Parapunov in for van Tilburg. UH wins set 2 25-18.
thanks. didn’t realize it it actually said 2 2
but i have fixed it. thanks again.
Matautia in for Rosenmeier to start Set 3
Pepperdine up 15=14 at the TTO
Pepperdine staring off the game with the first point. Hawaii boys exploding out with a lot of energy keeping up with Pepperdine. With Hawaii being the top blockers in the country, they seem to be struggling starting off. Still big personality on the side lines, with constant support for their teammates. Sliding under the net, #17 on Pepperdine misses his chance to save the ball. A close call for the rainbow warriors! Tui with the save and stijn with the return, but the warriors couldn’t get the point after Pepperdine returned their save. First set continues to be close with the Warriors leading by 21 to 20. Warriors win the first set 2 to 22.
Stijn has been the savior of many plays this game, attacking the ball and really diving for it. Rado Paerapunov, a freshman, getting his time in and scoring in his first set in the game, as well as a block with teammate Patrick Gasman, winning the last set 25-18.
Starting off the 3rd set, Rainbow warriors exploding out 3 to 0. The Waves don’t want to be easily defeated and have been keeping the score close after a big opening from the warriors.
Hawaii up 18-16. TO Waves.
The Waves keeping it close this set, but the Warriors aren’t backing down!
21. good job Alani.
UH up 20-18. TO Pepperdine
Van Tilburg blocked. Waves tie at 22. TO UH
Sets almost ending and the Waves have tied the game 22 to 22 at the time out.
Matautia blocked, Waves take set point at 24-23. TO UH.
Warriors have won 17 consecutive sets. that is in danger now.
The Warriors winning streak is in jeopardy but are tied 26-26.
Tied…Yet again. 25-25. 26-26, this up by 2 thing might take a second.
warriors win 28-26
Warriors win it!!! Tough game played by the Waves. Congratulations Bows on a 3 set win.
I think Jennings holding back offensively tonight, really shows off his knowledge and eye for the game. He saw them
camping out on him and spread it out more.
He should definitely be an AA this year. Give the national team a tryout. I think once they are in the gym together, he will outshine Tuaniga. Tuaniga is good, but I think he’s getting by on name. I’ll take Jennings over him every single time.
Hawaii looked like a solid top 5 team however unless that second outside position starts to produce I just don’t see them beating LBSU, BYU and a healthy UCLA come MPSF playoffs. Would like to see the middles run a little more often. Van Tilburg is a beast out there, he deserves POY consideration!!!
Hawaii played well this weekend, especially Kupono – played with a lot more intensity. His hitting was powerful! I guess as you mentioned in your article this morning – the season is quickly coming to an end and these seniors want to savor every moment. This team has so much talent, too bad they can’t all play at the same time! Good luck the rest of the way boys!
I like Alani’s writing style, very descriptive. Good job, Alani.
35. I will pass that along to her. She is one of many talented students in my class.
