LBS is blocking very well
Beach on a 4-0 run, up 13-10. TO UH
4. UH has 3 blocks, 49ers 2 .. make that 3 with another block of Taylor
Hawaii come on and show up.
Too many UH errors.
Mitchem blocked. Beach up 20-=14. TO UH
LBSU outplaying the Wahine in every phase of the game. Gimillaro has them super well prepared tonight.
they have Nikki and Emily well scouted, think Norene needs to turn to her other hitters. this first set is gone, and sadly they are reminding me of last year how they played at home against the beach
xue ends it 25-17
oh and Nikki didn’t play well last season against them, and it looks to be repeating itself. hope Dave can encourage the girls to play better, this set was full of bad choices really
Those service errors then passing went south and this set got away fast they need to show up in set 2.
We play how we warm up…slow and sloppy
ACK! What the heck!? I turn on the tv and we lost set 1. Gee wiz, I hope we can re-adjust and get this going…. I hate long beach, in a rival type way! lets go wahine!!!
Ugh sibley’s passing is a problem too.
Nikki is struggling and no one else is picking up the slack.
17. I wonder why Shoji insists on Granato as a six-rotation player. She’s not a good passer, and they don’t really use her for offense back there. Meanwhile, Smith is used as a serving sub for Mitchem.
We need to get our middles going.
Can ANYONE put the ball DOWN?
If we can’t steady our passing, then we can’t run middles. Dang we are struggling right now. But keeping up, but we need more then just “keeping up”. BUT I will say I love watching the tv and hearing the commentator say “UH OH” wen either side makes a bad pass or set. With Long beach playing such great ball, how are they not ranked at all?
mags and annie are too good to be struggling this bad.
lbsu nets but no call, feeling like a set up imo
Awful serve by Granato.
Castillo with the kill. UH up 15-14 at the TTO
25. same refs that were at CSUN. no replay challenge at the Pyramid. UH the only school doing it in the Big West.
Credit to the Wahie for awesome digging and scrambling, which is keeping them in the set despite the other woes.
There was a comment somewhere that 49ers coaches were at CSUN to scout. That is not allowed by league rule.
Murray 8-1-17 Shoji said he was concerned about Murray getting away from his blockers.
Kahakai seriously! Ugh
Beach takes the lead at 19-18 on an error by Granato TO UH
Still no answer on the left.
someone needs to be the leader right now. there is no leadership, LBSU is irritating but they are just digging everything, and getting bad calls to go their way.
Maglio having a off night, I wish she was on fire
Maglio hitting error… ugh.
Huge kill by Nikki!
Wait, ok so if the setter grazes the bottom of the net, is it a call or did we change the rules somewhere along the way? I can’t remember the rule changes, cuz if not, I swear the setter for LBSU keeps touching the bottom of the net b/c of close passes on their side….
Taylor with 2 kills, she has 10. UH up 23-22. TO Beach
Harward with the SE. UH up 24-23. TO Beach
#38 I was pretty much thinking the same thing. She has been rubbing the net often with no call
Taylor ends it 25-23
Wahine making long beach middles look unstoppable but really hope Mags Gets it together. We need her to play like her usual self.
Nikki again! Yes!!
so so sorry. we’ve been having problems with the server and the blog went offline
Hawaii loses in 5, 25-17, 23-25, 25-16, 21-25, 15-13
Hawaii led 8-6, 11-9 and 12-11 in Set 5
Taylor with 28 kills, Mitchem and Granato with 10 each.
Loss ends UH’s 26 match conference winning streak and 15 straight on the road. Last road loss in the Big West was in five at Long Beach State in 2014.
So if UH beats LBSU at home and both teams win the rest of their games, the tie breaker would come down to games won head to head right? Thus sweeping or winning in 4 next time would be the tie breaker?
Great effort by the Bows to take it to 5 sets. Great match to watch, and LBS was the better team tonight; their freshmen Lobero was everywhere, digging almost everything. No worries; Wahines will return the favor at SSC.
Maybe it was for the best the blog went off line, gaaaawwwddd I really dislike long-beach! They always have such a freakin good team. Defense was ridiculous and that made all the difference. That ankle injury was painful to watch. How is long beach not even ranked? We must have played really horrible or voters just don’t respect them. Man we had little production from people, and us relying on Nikki so much mirrored how we played before wen we didn’t have mitchem. We are left to lick our wounds and try and be more consistent .

49. beach not ranked because they have 7 losses and some bad ones. such as Portland State and San Diego State.
