Tai has her angry face on!!!!!
Very quiet crowd tonight.
Wahine playing the dink better tonight.
Was Mendoza a redshirt last year? She has been a surprise this year.
NMSU hanging tough. First kill for Hartong.
thanks for the help. Mendoza redshirted last season. played for former UH men’s player Tom Pestolesi at Irvine Valley.
UH up 15-10 on an ace by Kawamura at the TTO.
Mendoza has shown her game well lately. Agreed.
Rolling now!!! 17-10 Wahine. Welcome back Cindy.
Looks like more of an effort to set the middles tonight Cindy?

link to live stats if you would like
UH up 23-15
25-17 Wahine win
UH wins 25-17. wasn’t as close as the score Wahine got a little sloppy at the end it was 24-15.
NMSU played some scrappy defense. back with stats in a bit
UH up 15-9 at TTO
Hartong is so active. She needs to remember hat Longo is beside her to also pick up balls.
A bit of a bad rotation for UH. Up 22-16, it’s now 22-20. TO Wahine.
Wow tied at 23
I think Tai got back to back kills. Wahine 25-23.
sorry, more wireless problems. Think there’s too many competing platforms here.
NMSU hangs really tough. Ties it at 23.
Manu-Olevao finishes it off with 2 kills. 25-23
Cindy, promo on wireless service does say for 2 hours.
UH hitting 266 for the night. 28-11-64. hit 375 in Set 2. Taylro 7-2-13, Vorster 4-1-6, Manu-Olevao 6-1-13, Hartong 8-4-19, Adolpho 3-2-9. Goodman 0-0-1. 5 aces, 5 SEs. 22 digs, 4 by Manu-Olevao, Uiato, Longo. 3 blocks.
for NMSU, hitting 218. Nash (still around) 5-0-14. Aggies outblocking UH 4-3. have 20 digs, 7 by Livoti. 2 aces, 6 SEs.
Tuaniga starting Set 3, along with Taylor and Hartong in the front row. Also in Manu-Olevao Uiato and Longo. Adolpho the other middle
19. WD, yes, it is 2 hours but I’m on the UH server.
Wahine up 9-4. TO NMSU
Glad they are going back to the middles.
Ha-ha, Lelepali sub for Adolpho in the front row. Too bad they didn’t set her!!!
UCLA 19-12. TO UH.
good rally at 24-12. NMSU keeps it alive. Higgins is setting. now 24-14. Tickets 6062.
Think they want Hartong to get the match ender to have Shoji tie
Goodman ends it 25-15
UCLA?
Higgins sets a good ball, but you can tell how slow her release is. By the time it gets to the hitter, the blockers are already well formed. Not a whole lot of deception there.
Good win for the Wahine. Im glad they got rattled off a bit with NMSU’s service because they need that for tomorrow and Sat.
UCLA will shot Hartong down on Saturday, she needs to play like she did against Texas. They will have atleast 2 blockers on her all night.
They looked sloppy tonight, same as the San Diego Match, hope they step it up.
WF, a little uninspired, I think, and not as sharp as against Texas for sure. But NMSU is a little unorthodox, doesn’t hit as hard as UH sees in its own practices. takes a while to adjust to balls coming back slower than they’re used to. See new thread in a bit
Hawaii did well except that its hitters were getting blocked a lot, just like the San Diego match. This includes Hartong. Hawaii getting out-blocked a lot his year. But still a good win and a sweep is sweet.
Cindy, did you ban Dedicated Fan? I don’t see any messages of his tonight. Or did he not comment because we won tonight and he had nothing to complain about? I’m curious to hear.
Oh, on second thought, did Dedicated Fan change his name to Warrior Dave?
@37 the latter.
I thought “John” was Dedicatedfan.
DF/Steve/Steven/Laura is no longer in the blog building.
LB, UH outblocked tonight 9-6. 5-3 in Set 3 with a bunch of non-starters in
They outblocked Texas 10-8. outblocked UTEP 7-3
did get outblocked by USD 13-6
so i wouldn’t say they’ve been outblocked a lot this season. 2 out of the 4 matches.
# 37,
I’m offended you thought I’m DF.
Em is going to see double block all the way across front row until someone else steps up and gets the numbers to get the opposing coach’s attention. I’m sure Coach Dave and Coach Robin adjust distribution. Really do hope to see more of backrow and out of system attacks go to some of the usual suspects beside Em. Go Wahine!
43. Hartong saw a lot of stacked blocks last year because she was the most consistent threat. But they did have to honor Croson on the left the past 2 years. Agree that they need someone else to step up but think that also falls on the middles, which all starts with the passing.
as for the BR attacks. you saw Manu-Olevao a couple of times on the D set on the right. She hits that well. Kastl can be effective back there, as can Long. but that also means they have to be out on the court, which you didn’t see a lot of them last night. (Long for 1 set, Kastl for a couple of rotations in 2) Taylor can as well, but she has often been subbed out for passing in the back row. think as her passing solidifies, she’ll be playing all the way around. But Hawaii needs to run its middles. they need that passing that you’re going to get with the very good DS such as Kawamura and Lelepali. Very much a dilemma.
Also agree with you about someone else needs to take those out of system swings. They’ve gone to Hartong way too often, IMHO. But you saw Vorster take some last night, good thing to see when going to a middle in that situation.
