I am very excited for the upcoming MVB season. I have a feeling that this team will exceed expectations just like the Wahine did. Nice to VB at UH flourishing on the men’s & women’s side.

    -Aloha!

  2. DaBeautifulGame December 14, 2015 8:04 pm

Should be an interesting season, only a couple of seniors on the squad and a very good freshmen middle coming in. Congrats to Josh Walker…welcome home. Go Warriors!

  3. kahuna December 14, 2015 9:03 pm

What concerns me is that very good middle fractured his foot and will redshirt.Middles will be very inexperienced. Like the potential of Dalton Solberg but think he is a year or two away from being very good. Not hearing much about Luke Owens and Naina Frank been out for two years so we going have to depend on our pin bitters to carry the team.

  4. warriorfan December 14, 2015 9:11 pm

I think Fey and Siki have to have big years , like first team all MPSF for this team to go back to the final 6. Also Jennings.

  5. warriorfan December 14, 2015 9:11 pm

I hope TMO and Olivia Magill will be playing for Hall’s beach bows.

  6. Cindy Luis December 14, 2015 9:26 pm

    Manu-Olevao is considering it.
Magill has 19 credits in spring. not playing sand. mentioned it in my story on her a couple of weeks ago. She is done with volleyball.

The indoor players who for sure will be with the BeachBows.
Doesn’t mean that they will be among the top 5 pairs, with the exception of Taylor.
    Anderson, Guinasso, Taylor, Castillo, Maglio
Not sure if Koelsch will. Mitchem said no.
Kahakai was a great junior AAU player. might change her mind.

    Referring to previous thread:

    39. Cindy about Texas being considered West Coast, that’s at least what the Texans I’ve encountered and met there while living there in Texas had to say (I’ve heard none to the contrary), particularly the Longhorns and other professional sports teams of Texas. I’d reckon it’s because they are not exactly East Coast when considering only West Coast and East Coast..

Yes really. “Although east of the Rockies, Texas is considered Western.”

    41. Yes Lisa Strand-Ma’a did say that, though somehow ESPN announcers used it once on Kalei.

  8. warriorfan December 14, 2015 10:39 pm

.6 thanks forgot about that, hope McKenna considers playing beach too, to improve her game like Nikki and get ready to be a starter next year.

  9. 'ohanaInBellingham December 15, 2015 6:13 am

I’m happy that Castillo will sharpen her skills as a Beachbow. I’m not surprised that Mitchem declined. I had hoped that McKenna would use the sand as a way to increase her hops.

Charlie said the middle situation is a creative development in the making. Mol, McKellar…even Franciskovic, who touches 12 feet, may be used in a modified front switch.

Lol. Gotta second CL about that. Lived in Austin. Never once heard anyone refer to Texas as “West Coast”; Southwest or West, yes; West COAST? no.

  12. vballfreak808 December 15, 2015 8:52 am

Hope Manu-Olevau does take that chance. Recently I saw a video of her playing beach in 2013 and remember how surprised I was when she was playing as the top pair. She may not be a top pair player now but she will definitely strengthen the bottom pairs if she plays.

Anyone with inside scoop on whether taylor and/or magill have made the AA teams? Players and coaches likely have been notified by now, so that travel arrangements can be made to attend the banquet.

  14. Maverick December 15, 2015 4:49 pm

Officially, team will be announced on Twitter starting at 10am CST/6am HST, here: https://mobile.twitter.com/AVCAVolleyball?ref_src=twsrc%5Egoogle%7Ctwcamp%5Eserp%7Ctwgr%5Eauthor

    Thanks Maverick !

  16. kahuna December 15, 2015 5:26 pm

Mckellar is an odd experiment. The guy is a lefthander and I don’t recall ever seeing a lefthanded middle bitter.

I guess we could set Ian in unconventional ways to make it hard for opponents to block him. Mol in the middle could work but the guy is hard lucked and is always injured. The lost of Pat Gasman really is a big blow.

  17. warriorfan December 15, 2015 5:31 pm

I think starting Mol at middle blocker might be a good idea even If Frank or Mckelar end up playing the most , just to get Mol serving for two rotations at least, he’s the best server on the team.

  18. ionw December 15, 2015 9:38 pm

    11. Well, I lived in H town. I think it’s because when the question was brought up is Texas West or is it East, it is considered West. Actually now I remember, I think somehow the conversations got intermingled when I last recall it discussing about the Houston Rockets and somehow the conversation from Texas being Western Conference also became considered (though not referred to) as West Coast as well.

btw i know this is late but fun thoughts from Ms. Knows naught about volleyball, Ms. Debbie Stadick Kniffin

No. 7-seeded PSU vs. Hawai’i (Des Moines, IA)
Friday, December 11 at 5:30 PM PT

Penn State danced their way to national titles in 2013 and 2014. If a team is to stop them this season, it probably won’t be Hawai’i. I know, I know. The Rainbow Wahine blazed through conference play without a single loss and took down two tough teams to earn a spot in the Sweet 16. But I don’t think they are big enough, strong enough or defensive enough to slow down Penn State. And I don’t think they have the firepower to score at will against the Nittany Lions sizeable front line.

My Pick: Penn State in three

well we all know how that worked out for them didnt we?

UGH its total BS that Nikki is not first team and Olivia not second team. They had the stats and the team went far, what more did they have to do???
