McLachlin new UH men’s volunteer coach

Spencer McLachlin is replacing Mauli’a LaBarre as volunteer assistant coach this season.

Think it was more of a time issue for LaBarre, who is an HPD officer with several young children.

McLachlin is rehabbing a shoulder injury. He had been playing in Greece. He’s hoping to go back and play pro.

A poster on another site said Dave said on L & L show that Nikki will play in spots this week and then full time next week.

Awesome, always been a fan of Spencer.

Great news about Nikki, I hope she can hit/play front row against UCLA with Kahakai serving and playing back row for her

The reason I’d hope she can play against UCLA , is because UH really needs a win over a top 30-50 rpi team. I definitely wouldn’t play her against Utah State and USF.

Great Article on Kalei G – Cindy!

WF: I think Dave was thinking of having her play back row sporadically instead of front row since her arm is NOT fully recovered. Blocking balls in the front row could aggravate the injury and prolong the healing process.

Fans should go on the PBS web site to catch the L & L show. It’ll address a lot questions people have raised about Nikki, the line up and practices.

Cindy: do not know if my question got filtered out.. however try again..

Actual heights of Greely and McGill… they are listed as 6’2″ and 6’1″ respectively..Olivia, definitely looks taller than 6’1″.. since you are at courtside, are Kalei G. and Olivia M. both about 6’3″ as SA article and coach Shoji mentions?
    Thanks.

So if Nikki Taylor plays in the backrow, will she hit the pipe set?

Coach try a new strategy. Plan this season with the young promising players and the return of Nikki to peak at the end of the season. Prepare the young ones if they have greater potential than the level of the current starters whereby at the end of the season and the playoffs, these young women will have a better chance to go for the national title. Again play the freshman if you know given the opportunity and over the course of the season they will be better than some of your current starters.

Like a great mind once said how can one get different results if they keep on doing the same thing. For once forget about the RPI and if you get into the postseason play wherever they send you with that Wahine Warrior Attitude.

Any word if the UCLA vs Hawaii game will be a sellout last year it was if I remember right

    1. As mentioned earlier, that she was hitting from the 3-meter in practice. Doubt seriously if she’d play in the front row. They don’t want to risk re-injuring the elbow. Which is how it was injured twice this summer, in blocking.

    8. That’s what she’s been practicing. They wouldn’t use her just for passing.

    10. doubt that it will be a sellout. last year was a special match, the day after Shoji became the all-time winningest coach.

    7. I asked Greeley if she was 6-3. She said ‘in shoes’. She has been this height since eighth grade.
Magill does look taller than the 6-1 she is listed. some of that is she is so thin (150 pounds)
