Well does that mean those Hawaii state flag uniforms for the warriors are a thing of the past? I liked them.

I think Aven is a great addition, seems like she’s a bit overqualified for DOVO’s gig though.

Ur right; Lee is a good hire. You still could know more about vb, yet, as a player.

In the UH athletics announcement video, Matlin suggested vball will wear UA shoes when there is “mutual comfort” with them.

sorry but what is DOVO responsible for exactly?

    4. This is the job description for the same position at U. of Maryland: “This position assists the Head Volleyball Coach and members of the coaching staff in coordinating the day-to-day operations for the entire volleyball program. Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: coordinating all aspects of team and recruiting travel; coordinating facility and practice schedules; managing program budget; managing student managers; coordinating campus recruiting visits; sharing responsibility for DataVolley statistical analysis software; assisting with the ordering and distribution of equipment; and other duties assigned by the head coach.”

I’m sure the UH position has similar responsibilities. Who cares if Lee is overqualified? If she has the passion and the experience, then great. Exactly what the program needs. The coaches have a lot to deal with re: the transition, rebuilding, recruiting, etc. without having to worry about whether airline tickets have been booked properly.

Really concerned about recruiting. Who’s got the West Coast? Who’s going to close the deal?

    thanks Maverick for explaining

#6….UH have had staffs that had no West coast ties but were still able to land West Coast kids.
Murakami’s staff was loaded with local coaches but still got great talent from Cali.
Vince Goo was able to get kids from there even though he had coaches like Dana TD, Serena Valdez and George Wolf. Riley Wallace’s staff was Nash, Wheeler, Ganot. Don’t think any of them WC guys.
You sell the program, the state and the school. No need to be from Cali to convince the Cali girls to come.

It’s hard to be over qualified to be a director of operations for any sport. That position requires multiple skill sets. It a hard job.

I believe Coach Baxter will do a lot of the Calif. recruiting. Coach Hall will also share his info and people like Tom P. always have their eyes out to help U.H. I also expect an expanded recruitment of foreign players moving forward. It is still a priority to keep the local talent to stay home. In my opinion, this is as good a coaching staff as in the entire country. The kids should flock to play for this program!

Got to say….very impressed with the turnout at the Wahine Volleyball camp. I thought that Robyn being new and all would cut into some fan going to camp but it was a fairly big group.

Everyone that was supposed to be here was here….except for Clare Marie and Arden Misraje. Hope Arden will still come. She is 6-2 with a heavy arm. Could use her for depth.

Oop….and of course…Norene was not there either.
