Hawaii 3, Long Beach 0

Top of the MPSF has BYU and UCI 10-2, UH and Pepperdine 9-2

Pepperdine has a bye, BYU nonconference match with BYU

Should Hawaii win, they’d be tied with BYU at 10-2.

Depending on what happens at UCI vs. UCSB today, 10-2 would either be a tie for first or a tie for second behind UCI (a win puts the ‘Eaters at 11-2).

Hope for a better match from Brook and that UH sweeps this time.

That was a great sand article. Great that those four commiments are now verified. I think though, they won’t be 2015-2016 recruits. since Ariana Homayan is the only recruit in 2015-2016. Martin, Smith, Luyties and Chizanskos will be here for 2016-2017.

    UH wins set one 25-17

Great digs by Brook Sedore and then Kanatake help Hawaii gain natural points on Brook Sedore’s serving in the second set. Hope they can stay ahead and not fall behind like yesterday at the tail end of the second set.

Fey is finally hitting with confidence and is taking smart shots. Hope he keeps this up.

  5. warriorfan February 28, 2015 6:31 pm

    Kanetake and sedore are struggling.

  6. warriorfan February 28, 2015 6:33 pm

UH again had set point at 24-22 is making bad errors to let Long Beach back in it. frustrating.

  7. warriorfan February 28, 2015 6:33 pm

thank god for Siki, he always comes through in the end.

  8. rayson February 28, 2015 6:36 pm

    Any update on the match?

  9. warriorfan February 28, 2015 6:36 pm

UH won 27- 25. thanks to a kill and ace from Siki.

  10. Big Island VB fan February 28, 2015 6:37 pm

Relief, Hawaii won the second set thanks to some Long Beach errors and a service ace by Ziki. Tough job being a libero. Yesterday Kanatake got bruised and today Windisch hit his leg on a metal bar on the way to save a ball into the stands but couldn’t, giving Hawaii set point. I sure feared deja vu from yesterday when Hawaii couldn’t put away set point after reaching 24 first.

    Thanks guys.

    yay…at least tied for 2nd

  13. warriorfan February 28, 2015 7:04 pm

UH swept, soo good to sweep Long Beach at the pyramid. Now two huge matches against Pepp.

  14. Big Island VB fan February 28, 2015 7:05 pm

Warriorfan, you got what you wished for, a three-set victory. Hawaii was better and also the audio was better. All around, a good volleyball match.

  15. warriorfan February 28, 2015 7:35 pm

game mvp today was clearly Kupono Fey. Everyone else played below par stats wise, but UH still swept.

Warriors with their sixth straight, 25-17, 27-25, 25-19.

    idle Pepperdine fourth at 9-2
Next week’s matches will be very intereting with UH and Pepperdine.

I wonder if Jeff Hall had some positive vibes for Dave Shoji from Kathryn Plummer upon his return from Colorado?

  19. Cindy Luis March 1, 2015 10:42 am

don’t know. will see Hall Monday but he’s being very good about not talking about underclassmen recruiting.

  20. warriorfan March 1, 2015 12:19 pm

At this point I feel better about UH’s chances with Lexi Sun than Kathryn Plummer.

  21. Brandon March 1, 2015 1:26 pm

There is absolutely zero chance we get Plummer or sun. According to extremely reliable people on VT, Plummer is stanford or usc bound (with it most likely being stanford), and sun has her eyes on usc, but has been considering other pac schools.

  22. warriorfan March 1, 2015 2:22 pm

I am sorry but aren’t you Wahinefan44 on volley talk? I remember just days before Noreen Iosia committed to UH, you were saying how much of a longshot she was….. boy were you wrong.

  23. Brandon March 1, 2015 4:04 pm

I dont recall every saying norene was a long shot. I said it would be hard to get her because she was THAT talented, and a lot of people said sealey had her wrapped up, but I knew her polynesian roots would be a huge factor for us. Ill retract and I won’t say 0 chance, but VERY VERY VERY VERY SLIM. Plummer has waited to commit most likely to wait for admissions to stanford. And EVERYONE on volley talk with even a remote connection to sun has said USC is her number one school.

  24. hollycow March 1, 2015 7:50 pm

Jeff Hall is working hard, Morgan Martin, Plummer’s partner has committed to UH.

  25. Brandon March 1, 2015 8:01 pm

IF hall can land plummer, it would be one of UH greatest recruits. EVERY school is after her. IF we can beat out stanford, PSU, USC for this girl, I would be ecstatic. But I honestly feel from what others have said, she wants stanford. That could change though

  26. warriorfan March 1, 2015 8:09 pm

Not every top recruit gets into stanford though. I believe April Ross didn’t.
So I am glad UH is still pursuing her.I doubt USC is in the picture for Plummer since Mick Haley, won’t let her play beach volleyball.

If Plummer commits to UH and pairs up with Morgan Martin, 4 time pairs champions IMO.

Here is a link to vote for Taylor Averill ( or Kolby Kanatake) as player of the month for February. personally I think Averill deserves ithttp://www.offtheblockblog.com/2015/03/finalists-announced-for-otbspringbak-inc-national-player-of-month/

Did mention the couple of verbals they’ve received, including Martin and Luyties. We’ll see what happens with Plummer.

Warriors stay at No. 6 in poll.
