Hawaii leads 15-11 at the media timeout
Hawaii leads 18-13; TO CSUN. Some very nice digs by Hartley
Hawaii wins set 1, 25-21. Fey leads with 7 kills.
Thanks for the help.
On another note, Nikki Taylor sprained her ankle towards the end of sand practice today. She left on crutches. No word yet on how bad. may not know until after the weekend.
Jeff told me today that they’d finalize the parings next week but could be Taylor and Tiegs (that was before Taylor’s sprain.)
Hawaii leads 2nd, 12-8. Some nice work by Hartley on out of system plays
Hawaii leads 15-11 at media timeout
Averill ACE & Averill from the back row
Hawaii leads 18-11, TO CSUN
I love sand volleyball, but I hope nikki isn’t injured to bad where it will affect her indoor status. I don’t think I could take her being out the beginning again
Not good news about Nikki. Hope its not serious.
Averill is the man. I hope Jennings sets hit from the backrow everytime he’s back there, he is unstoppable from there.
SEDORE ends it. 25-12
Sedore with his 900th career kill ends it.

was hoping stanford could pull the upset. Oh well.
Now UH looks lackadaisical and not focused.
Looks like they woke up, Really want them to sweep this csun team. Do not like them.
Nice comeback by UH. Tied 13-13 now…was down by 5 earlier.
Ace by Fey & a block has UH leading 15-13 at the media TO
Not sure Leung works as serving sub, He just misses too many.
21-21…Sedore got us back into a tie 🙂
Leung now has 4 SEs in 12 serves with an ace.
Hawaii has had 3 match points, CSUN has been able to tie each time. Hartley gives UH its fourth at 27-26
Averill with his 10th kill. it’s 28-27
CSUN with its first set point at 29-28
Wow Scott Hartley is just so powerful offensively.
UH will be so good on the pins when Siki returns.
On match point, I would not go to Sedore. he’s a great player but just not always the most clutch. I’d go Averill or Hartley.
They really blew that third set.
Matadors win it 30-28
I wouldn’t say we blew it. We were behind most of the way and fought back for a bunch of tries at match point. Couldn’t close it out, but not “blowing it” in my opinion….I agree that they set Sedore too much at the end.
Now CSUN is playing with confidence, UH really should have closed the door.
CSUN’s bench should be asked to sit in the tunnel. They’ve been warned several times for bad language…
Lets go UH, don’t let this one slip
UH making a lot of silly errors and letting this northridge team hang around.
Hawaii is GIVING this set away. I really don’t want to go to 5.
Averill and Sedore are just not playing to their usual selves, way too many errors for them.
Fey is still strugging with efficiency also.
Hawaii is playing HORRIBLY right now. They are making unforced errors. What happened to the hawaii in set 2
I’m really disappointed in how much Jennings is going to Sedore. He is not playing well, stop setting him so much.
It might be time to try Siki. UH can not lose this!!
CSUN is very classless. Even from the tv, I can tell how classless the coach and the team are. Especially the bench. He literally just said, no more free points. What a crybaby
Brook may be struggling offensively, but he is still bringing it on his serve at least.
Jeff should’ve been given a red card and tossed for delay…whiners…
Well theres a reason why I dislike this Northridge team so much, they are a bunch of punks, Only wish UH had crushed them.
I used to think the beach were bad, but this northridge team takes the cake. This is absolutely ridiculous. They are whining like children and just being rude and their coach is purposely being a child and complaining about “free points”
Averill has just been struggling since set 2. hope his play is back to normal on sunday.
39. agree he should have been given a card.
36. don’t know why you think Zarkovic would get in. He’s in sweats.
Argh, UH had 2 match points. CSUN ties it at 25
Amazing after all the stuff CSUN has gotten away with, UH gets a yellow. CSUN up 26-25
Ace by Hartley gives UH another shot at 27-26. Sedore goes wide . 27-27
I can’t tell you how many times Sedore has hit out on match points in his career, it’s a lot.
Kanetake has been the only bright spot this whole set. He is making AMAZING plays.
UH should be pretty embarassed by their play tonight. bunch of bone head errors.
If Averill and Sedore can play back to their usual selves, UH should win easily on Sunday. I hope so anyway.
UH with a block. wins its 30-28.
YES AND WE WIIIIIIIIIIN.
An UGLY way to win, very very very sloppy play by hawaii, but A win is A Win
Kolby 21 digs. MVP, everyone else struggled after set 2. They need the killer instinct. if they want to win the MPSF. I’d give Northridge credit but it was mostly UH bad errors that helped Northridge.
Sedore with six aces, puts him at No. 5 on the UH career list.
agree about UH giving away. 20 service errors, 29 hitting errors.
Kanetake’s 21 digs a career high.
I feel bad for Mol, wish he had redshirted last year. He has so much potential but it just hasn’t materialized.
To me the team looked unfocused from the very start of the match. They benefitted from the fact that CSUN isn’t very good and they were error prone in the first 2 sets. CSUN started playing better in the third and fourth sets and UH didn’t up their game.
Also Mol injured himself during the warmups. I think it was his knee. I didn’t see exactly what happened but after one of his warmup hits he limped off the court. After awhile he rejoined the warmups but he just wasn’t elevating like he was.
Mol had an ice pack on his knee, wondered why cause I did not remember seeing him on the court after first serve. Thanks rayson for the info.
Set 4 when the a CSUN libero and another player were switching their coach spoke to them – harshly it looked like from my seat behind their service line – and had them do a different switch-I thought ohoh- looked like that the guys knew what they were doing- after UH served CSUN gave us a point due to a rotation error.
Mol did hurt his knee during warmups. He and Hartley had quite the battle this week in practice and at one point Wade said Mol was the best player in the gym.
CSUN did get a bit confused as they tried to stall the game with the subs. No surprise they ended up out of rotation. They do that double libero thing and that can add to rotation problems.
Any updates on Nikki or Hendrik? really hope they both aren’t seriously injured.
58: As mentioned earlier, likely won’t know about Taylor until Monday.
We’ll find out about Mol today
