UH had promised live stats but no stats from tonight. sorry
can tell you Vorster had one of her best swings on a quick in the middle. Wahine up 17-11. TO alumnae

  3. Msrpantoja1@netzero.com October 18, 2013 8:04 pm

Was going to keep quit, but our facilitator’s only adequately painting that ‘picture’ in coverage. 😛

It looks as though Shoji wants the most out of the alumnae as possible..

    OH1- 5.11 Aneli
    OH2- 5.7′”1/2 Hedder

    MB1- 6.3 Brittany
    MB2- 6.2 Juliana

    S- 5.8 Kanoe
    Opp- 6.0 Lauren

    Lib-Brandt

    What happen to Mason??
    😉

    Now I know why. Oops!
But didn’t you just have something entirely different posted @2 prior?!

  5. Cindy Luis October 18, 2013 8:09 pm

Any info., from you personally, would be much appreciated.
    Mahalo.

It’s late here so I was hoping to read something about it tomorrow, perhaps in your “match story”???

That jersey color was driving me nuts so I contacted Asics customer service awhile ago and I sent a photo of Ali wearing it,they told me that Ali’s jersey is there # 87 WOW – neon lime green Rollshot jersey.

They also have matching shoes that Asics calls WOW / Black Steel trim.

    varsity wins set 3 28-26

  10. Cindy Luis October 18, 2013 9:43 pm

Neon lime green it is. I think Patagonia has a similar color that is named for legendary waterman Nappy Napoleon. it’s called Nappy Green.
I’ve seen the shoes. love that color

No rewind tonight. they are setting up for basketball and I gotta leave the table.
no real stats. unofficially Kastl 7 kills, Manu-Olevao 6. Hewitt 5 kills, 3 blocks.
Hartong 5 kills in Set 1. Nikki Taylor 5 kills, mostly in Set 1.
Shoji used his entire available roster . including Ponce. revolving door of players. Longo played the whole match at libero.
Hewitt said her back is better now that she isn’t jumping every day. she she had no regrets about moving on with her life, that she needed to go back to be with her family and take care of her back. she’s working on her masters in speech pathology.

  12. rayson October 18, 2013 11:02 pm

It was fun match. The Alums played like they should. Yes it’s about having fun but it’s also about pushing the current team and trying to expose weaknesses.

I thought the Wahine played a composed and relatively clean match (though the middles still need work). They weren’t trying to pound the Alums but neither were they just trying to play just going through the motions. Glad a lot of players got to play.

It was great to see Brittany play again and Aneli still has it.

SYMPATHIZE WITH HEWITT AND HER BACK. PEOPLE WHO NEVER HAD BACK INJURY WHEN THEY WERE YOUNG DON’T REALIZE HOW DEBILITATING IT CAN BE, AND THAT IT CAN HIT YOU SUDDENLY AT ANYTIME, TORQUEING YOUR BODY TO EITHER SIDE. IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO “WORK THROUGH IT”. ONCE YOU GET IT, IT WILL BE CHRONIC FOR LIFE.

  14. grace October 19, 2013 12:43 am

Aneli brings passion and presence to the volleyball court even several years out of college. Just love her TENACITY. I thought Hewitt roams and closes on her blocks well and those hands of still can touch a lot of balls. Emily Maeda also had several spectacular digs. It was just great to see how many women come back to visit and you can only feel the legacy Coach Shoji had created!

    “Third toughest?”

Luis’ decision NOT to promote this new documentary film produced by locals…just because. 😉

It assuredly would/will have an impact upon UH’s future vb endeavors. UCLA will be back, they’re in the VB mecca of the world for crying out loud. I can’t believe that not even a sentence–in advocacy–made your coverage from last night.

You could’ve been the best, but.

& I know that this won’t make it to actually being posted for others to read which is why I send it in ‘private’.

    Cindy.

I need to ask for your forgiveness based upon my last ‘private’ note to you. You’ve been nothing but kind and I shouldn’t have disrespected you the way that I’ve done so.

I don’t know what kind of relationship you have going with Dave..rocky or not, great from the get-go?..nobody does except you, Dave and God.

    Sorry, again.

    Sorry.

Last night was fun! Wish there were more in attendance to enjoy the evening with alumnae. Appreciated getting them all on court and introduced individually. We had fun straining those brain cells to remember some of the names we haven’t used for a while. We counted ourselves doing well if we got as far as “It begins with a T./ N…” The camaraderie and aloha was seen and felt. One thing very evident: they were all having a good time. So good to watch Hewitt back in the front row. And Juliana. How inspiring for the Varsity to meet and mingle with their history. Our carload went home smiling. Go Bows!!! p.s. was there a group picture? Sure hope so. Would love to get one if there is.

Anybody knows if the booster club gets involved in this kind of a match. If they do,maybe they have grp photos.Us on the outer island misses out on stuff like this,no can afford to travel.

  19. Cindy Luis October 19, 2013 3:57 pm

Some upsets that could affect our ranking in the poll. #8 Nebraska upset by #25 Purdue and #5 Michigan State upset by #10 Minnesota but with USC,Florida,Penn State,Washington,Stanford and Michigan State all having Sunday matches there is no telling what more could happen.

    thanks for the links.

  24. Cindy Luis October 19, 2013 5:56 pm

    15. P&G< i have no idea what you mean, including asking about my relationship with Shoji. What is that all about? I didn't 'promote' the local documentary because I received no information about it. It played on the jumbotron last night between Sets 2 & 3 but I only saw snippets of it because I was writing. As I told LC last week when he asked about it, that I'd have to follow up with Tsugi. It looks really good and I enjoyed the few things I could hear, particularly from the late Donis Thompson. Not to get defensive, but if you have been reading the patter, I have had a number of stories this week that have needed my attention, including two that run on Sunday.

  25. Cindy Luis October 19, 2013 6:03 pm

    15. as for insight into some of the women mentioned in the film. you can google my series on Title IX from 2002, the 30 year anniversary. I had a lengthy interview with Mrs. Mink and was the last local reporter to speak to her, apparently, before she passed.
I do take issue with you implying that i have some sort of bias regarding UCLA. I have always been objective in my reporting. That I graduated from UCLA has no bearing on my stories. It is beyond rude for you to suggest otherwise.

  26. Msrpantoja1@Huh.'A'loha October 19, 2013 6:28 pm

    *Note to self…
NEVER send ‘private’ messages to CL, the one behind the scenes, the one at the control board(s).

Your “number of stories this week”…
Enjoyed the one about the dude/transplant from The San Juans.
    Friday Harbor > Orcas Island
    😛

  27. sharene October 19, 2013 7:26 pm

Cindy is more than objective in her reporting…and it is surely not her job to promote UCLA. She writes for Hawaii and covers the rainbow wahine. I, for one, appreciate her focus on our wahine, both past and present.

  28. menehune October 20, 2013 8:29 am

P&G will complain about anything that shines the spotlight on the Wahine. The reason he talks in riddles is that he keeps forgetting to take his meds. lol

  29. Cindy Luis October 20, 2013 9:19 pm

    26. note back to you. It was NOT a private message. It was posted on the blog.
