Hawaii men’s volleyball: Warriors 3, Beach 0; Warriors 2, Beach 1

Hawaii took on defending national champion Long Beach State in two fall exhibitions on Saturday, one in the Walter Pyramid and one in the auxiliary Gold Mine facility.

For the week, the Rainbow Warriors went 5-1, defeating UC Santa Barbara 4-1, UC Irvine 4-0, CSUN 5-1 and Long Beach State 3-0 and 2-1. The loss came to USC 3-1 with Hawaii’s B side playing against the Trojans.

The rivals decided to end the first matchup with LBSU after Hawaii swept it 25-22, 25-16, 25-16.

In the rematch, UH beat Long Beach in three sets, but after dropping the first. They decided to just play three in the Gold Mine.


In between, UH’s B team played USC, with the Trojans winning 25-15, 25-23, 17-25, 25-22.

(Only player from first match in the second was libero Gage Worsley, the only libero who traveled. He has played in every set this trip.)

    They looked very good. Beach did not. But we’ll see what happens this afternoon. Won’t be there since heading over to Wahine at UCI
