FULLERTON, Calif. — Fresh off last night’s impressive victory over Utah, the Rainbow Warriors are seeking to advance to the championship game of the Wooden Legacy in Titan Gym.

To do so, the ‘Bows must get by Seton Hall of the Big East. While Utah provided a tall challenge, the Pirates attack with a three-guard offense. Their best is 6-2 Myles Powell, who scored 40 points on Thursday, tying the tournament record set by James Harden. Powell is averaging 27.5 points per game on 52.4-percent shooting, including 43.3 percent on 3s.

Sandro Mamukelashvili, a 6-10 post, is averaging eight boards per game.

Prayers go out to Mililani’s (UCF) Mckenzie Milton. A Speedy recovery for him.

Somebody show Drammeh a shot chart.

He can’t utilize his quickness if he is standing at the arc.

Drammeh fell down of his own doing.

Made Powell laugh and turned it over.

Drammeh, we’re lucky to have him, but he is funny.

So great to see Raimo finish on the Buggs pass.

I’m not taking that for granted.

Many UH centers from the past could not do what Zigmars just did.

    Just catch and shoot.

Not catch, mull it over, get blocked.

    Drive to the basket.

    Get fouled.

    Hit two free throws.

    C’mon, Sheriff.

You can do that better than anybody on the team.

I also like how he drove to the basket and kicked it out to Buggs.

Stepteau passed up an open three.

I think he feels more comfortable taking it around the top of the key.

    That is Ruffin-like.

    Miss the first three.

Come back and put it up again.

Last season, Purchase would get gun-shy.

They blew up the whistle…late, because you can’t have Hawaii in the title game in a tournament named after John Wooden.

Got to stop that 7-0 run.

Cal State Fullerton’s Kyle Allman scored 40 points against Hawaii in 2018.
Cal State Fullerton’s Josh Akergnon scored 41 points against Hawaii in 2008.

Why, of all teams, is the Titans the foe that features two players that put up the most and second most points by an opponent?

Myles Powell’s 40 points against Grand Canyon on CSF’s home court last night reminded me of this bizarre anomaly.

    6.

    That’s Stansberry I’m talking about.

I think Purchase has to be wide open with nobody around him.

That is more like it. Seton Hall. A Big East conference team. Not bad Hawaii. Pretty good this year.

#2 is shooting 27% from the field.
#5 is shooting 60% from the field.

But #5 has five less turnovers than #2 in half the minutes.

#2, however, may feel more comfortable coming off the bench like Stansberry. Even though she is not hitting threes with any sort of regularity during the game, she must hit them in practice. Maybe her potential will be realized in a different role.

#35 should stick to posting up. Stay in the key. Look at old film of Kamilah Jackson, not Mike Thomas.

#11 needs to stay out of foul trouble. She really doesn’t have an effective backup.

Crossing my fingers that her limited minutes on the bench in the first half is the reason they lost last night.

I am looking forward to a better effort against Florida Gulf Coast.

Play Chevan today? bowl game?….One name..Milton. People can get hurt. IF we lose Chevan to an injury at this stage of the season, we OK with that?
We need the competition next year to see who is the guy. Me?…Chevan 2019….

  13. NorthShoreFan November 24, 2018 6:34 am

Just looking to have Chevan behind center the whole season. Don’t want him to burn a year for 5 games.

Are the UH athletic fund raisers too shy or lack the will or nerve to approach the people with big bucks who live here? With so many of these well to do individuals and corporations here, I’m starting to believe this (“Ah, not da local way!”). Instead, they choose to call “average Joes” like me at dinner time, asking for $$$. UH seems destine to remain like “Manuela Boy” with fundraising of the “You like buy sweetbread?” approach.

Sorry to bring up Utah State’s football program, but they have made unbelievable upgrades to their facilities and resources, thanks largely from local boosters. USU is located in the Cache Valley in northern Utah, which is made up of farms and dairies, has also garnered support from corporations in thr region.

how important is winning games in the “pre-season” vs conference?

if the latter, then consideration is to play the three 7′ as much as possible in pre-season to prepare them for conference play?

  20. A-House November 24, 2018 10:41 am

prayers out to Milton McKenzie for a full and speedy recovery!

you vs Coedrio in the Fiesta Bowl in 2020!

  21. iGrokSpock November 24, 2018 11:26 am

Seton Hall is a solid, but not spectacular team. Hawaii can be spectacular once in awhile, but sure did construct a nice new building with a whole lotta bricks last night.

  22. burro sabio November 24, 2018 3:39 pm

OSD – for those kinda guys to give, what does UH have to offer them? Nothing comes for free, if they’re going to donate the huge bucks, they have to get something out of it too.
