Hawaii volleyball: U.S. men win at NORCECA, Top 25 scores

The U.S. men’s national team, with three players with Hawaii ties on the roster, won its pool at the NORCECA Continental Championship on Wednesday with a 25-17, 25-21, 25-22 victory over Cuba in Winnipeg, Canada.

Micah Ma’a (Punahou) was the setter and team captain, had three aces and two kills. U.S. hit .425.

Former UH setter Joe Worsley was used as a serving sub. Junior Gage Worsley was not used as a libero.

The U.S. Men (3-0) will have Thursday off and will play in the semifinals on Friday. The Americans will face one of the quarterfinal winners Thursday; it’s Puerto Rico vs. Dominican Republic and Cuba vs. Mexico.

The U.S. battled back from deficits of 2-7 in the second set and 14-16 in the third.
