Punahou was latest stop on Hawaii football’s practice tour

For the third time in the past four practices, the Warriors worked out at an off-campus site.

Today’s practice was at Punahou School’s Alexander Field because 1) the concern about inclement weather, 2) UH’s only football field with artificial surface was unavailable because of construction at the Ching Athletic Complex.

The practice proved to be productive in: 1) Adjusting to a different venue, 2) bonding, 3) practicing on artificial turf. This season, every UH football game will be played on a synthetic surface.

“It’s good to change locations every once in a while,” safety Ikem Okeke said. “We’re not always going to be playing at home. We’re not always going to be on our field. Right (now), we can’t even practice on our own (artificial) turf. We have to get some work in on turf fields, and actually feeling it and breaking on turf. We have to get used to firing around on turf.”

Quarterback Cole McDonald said: “Anywhere you are, any field you’re on, you have to handle business.”

    Is the Marketing Department doing enough so far into this 2019-2020 season? Making new connections with Millennials? Reaching out to Families, Students, Youth Clubs, Athletic/School Organizations etc. And even with their communications with renewing season ticket holders? I can’t tell from my viewpoint. Maybe they are. I haven’t really felt the excitement “buzz” yet (from people I know; many who go to games) so I’m getting worried little bit. However there is a definite “buzz” over the depth and talent around this team. Partially media driven but this year feels different. Not the “fake” news bogus “hype” you sometimes get as season approaches. I hope we see something different advertising wise. Something that creates the “buzz” because the way the programs direction is headed seems worth the investment. Special. At least get the season tickets to your fans so they can prepare mentally. Important. Can do.

    Think UH is focusing on the TMT deal.

    I can’t help but think that the new track should have been installed earlier in the summer.

    idk the whole H-Pass is a pretty big marketing push. How many people actually bite and go with it is yet to be known, but I think it’s a great idea

    We are soooo LUCKY !!!

    5 more years of Bobby Curran and KKEA.

    Over the 5 years, UH receives a total of $1,057,000.00 in cash;

    plus $1.1 mill worth of “in-kind” support, such as ads and …

    I called UH Ticket Office and they informed me that season tickets should be received sometime next week.

    I’ve never heard of the H-Pass e ticket program. I had to look it up. Seems interesting for the “casual”, non committed fan. Very convenient and encouraging for the “tech savvy” Millennials. We’ll see how much of an impact it will make filling seats. Somebody needs to compile data on marketing trends for the different age groups as the program approaches promise. See how “winning” affects different age ranges. And make that data available to the public. Maybe Islandman already knows these numbers. We need to see who (blame or credit) is accountable.

    We want Wins, not “winning”.
