ON THIS DATE IN 2019: Kumoku Noa shows what’s possible

On this date a year ago, Kumoku Noa was cleared to play for the first time in two years and responded with 120 yards and a touchdown on four receptions in Hawaii’s 45-31 win at New Mexico.

Noa was not around to collect the game ball from head coach Nick Rolovich because he was being treated for yet another injury.

“Before the season started, I went through a little bit of adversity,” Noa said. “The coaches gave me the opportunity each and every day. They believed in me. They gave me a chance. They kept faith in me. A lot of the credit goes to them.”

Noa’s story of redemption ended the next week when he suffered a season-ending injury against Fresno State. Noa entered the transfer portal during the summer.
