Now visiting

Recruiting is ongoing for the Hawaii men’s basketball team, and there will be visitors on the Manoa campus this weekend, but these particular young men are already signed and sealed.

Fall signee Gerry Blakes of Morningside High and his future UH teammate, Dillon Biggs of Dorsey High, will be out and about for a couple days.

As for the one remaining UH scholarship for 2011-12, you can effectively cross two more off the list — Crenshaw (Los Angeles) High guard Darnell Taylor and Travis (Texas) High guard Anthony Odunsi are no longer in the mix.

But there are believed to be multiple U.S. mainland and international prospects. At the top of that list is Lincoln (N.Y.) High 5-foot-10 point guard Shaquille Stokes, who is reportedly taking a visit to UH next week.

There are still a few more weeks left in the spring signing period (until May 18), and prospects can still reach non-binding agreements to play after that, so Gib Arnold and the UH coaches aren’t rushing things.

    Thanks for the update Brian.

Bummer to hear we are not in the running for Taylor or Odunsi. Taylor would have been a real exciting player for us.

While Blakes and Biggs are in town, who are their hosts? Doesn’t a current player usually show them around?

What’s the status of Michael Harvey and Tyler McDaniels?

That Stokes kid from NY looks like huge potential, hope we can land him. Happy to hear that our recruiting radar has extended to the East coast and beyond.

    Brian,

Isn’t Stokes in town today and tommorrow? Hope you guys can get some coverage on him and see what’s up. I know Dayton mentioned him on Warrior Insider visiting so that would be awesome if you guys could get an interview or something with him. Would be even better if Coach Gib can persuade him to join our Warrior Basketball team.
