Hawaii appears to be getting healthy at the right time.
That’s a good thing, because UC Santa Barbara presents a tough test for Wednesday’s senior night.
The Gauchos have big man Alan Williams, the defending Big West Player of the Year, back from a shoulder injury. He’s coming off consecutive double-doubles in which he grabbed 15 rebounds each.
UH will need stalwart efforts from big men Stefan Jankovic and Stefan Jovanovic in defending and boxing out Williams.
UH (19-11, 7-7) has Isaac Fleming and Mike Thomas back healthy. Benjy Taylor was hesitant to talk too much about Fleming on Tuesday, which leads me to believe that whatever minutes he gets against UCSB will be curbed.
But you can bet he’ll be looking to make good on the 3 that was a 2 in UH’s 75-74 loss at UCSB. That remains one of the toughest losses of the season — if not the toughest — for the Rainbow Warriors.
UH looks headed for the 4-5 game in the Big West tournament first round. A win tonight would likely cement that further.
