Coming to you from Maui …
Hey all,
Taking a leave from duties with the Hawaii men and women’s basketball teams for a few days to cover the EA Sports Maui Invitational in Lahaina.
Veteran hoops writers Jason Kaneshiro and Cindy Luis have my back on UH hoops while I’m away. Thanks guys.
I’ll toss up some updates starting tomorrow, when coaches from all eight teams — Michigan State, Kentucky, Connecticut, Washington, Oklahoma, Wichita State, Virginia and Chaminade — have their introductory press conference. First-round games are on Monday.

The UH women couldn’t replicate their solid first effort against Cal State Northridge, falling 83-67 to Eastern Michigan in the Jack in the Box Rainbow Wahine Classic.
Senior guard Megan Tinnin led UH with 17 points, including five 3-pointers.
Turnovers were again a problem. The Wahine had 23 of them after committing 24 on opening night.
UH (1-1) continues play against Oregon State tomorrow.
