Wednesday's practice

By Stephen Tsai on April 14, 2010

From today’s practice: • The quarterback order was this: 1) Shane Austin. 2) David Graves. 3) Brent  Rausch. 4) Cayman Shutter. 5) Corey Nielsen. • And while it appeared Rausch was running with the No. 2s, I was told that was not correct. But all of the QBs got pretty much an equal number of reps. • With Laupepa Letuli on light duty and Kaina LaCount’s left knee in a brace, Adrian Thomas moved from right guard to right tackle […]

Missing Mo

By Stephen Tsai on April 11, 2010

College football is about, as coaches like to say, “midstream adjustments.” A player gets injured, you move on to the next. A player is ineligible, you move on to the next. With 85 players on scholarship and locker space for 115, there never seems to be a shortage of “next” players. When quarterback Tim Chang completed his eligibility, there was concern about his successor. And then somebody who would wear No. 15 came along. And, so, the Warriors will adjust […]

LIHUE — Starting quarterback Bryant Moniz is on “personal leave” and did not accompany the Warriors to today’s scrimmage on Kaua‘i, UH head coach Greg McMackin confirmed this morning. McMackin did not specify how long Moniz would be away from the team. “He has to take care of some personal things,” McMackin said. * * * * * Jett Jasper’s uncle, Jimmy, proudly wears a shirt proclaiming his nephew’s candidacy for UH student-body president. Seryna wins the baseball tickets. Thanks again to Avis for choosing the winner. * * * * * Kelly Majam blasted her record-setting 22nd home run today. Majam, a second-year freshman, has a shot at John Matias’ career record of 30 home runs. * * * […]

Iosefa moves to running back

By Stephen Tsai on April 7, 2010

Joey Iosefa made a big impact today in his debut as a running back. He had some powerful knock-back blocks, as well as some tough running. Iosefa, who was raised in American Samoa, was a quarterback in high school. As a grayshirt, he was a part-time student in the fall before joining the Warriors in January. He was projected to play linebacker. But Monday, he was told he would move to running back. * * * * * Who wants […]
