D-end set to join Warriors

The Warriors’ defense will be getting a boost with the addition of Ethan Mahaulu, a defensive end and 2011 Kailua High graduate. Mahaulu is 6 feet 4 and weighs 230 pounds. He drew interest from Utah State and Rutgers, but opted to walk on at UH. He is a qualifier. Mahaulu is familiar with the Warrior program. No doubt slotback Corey Paclebar knows Hawaii’s routes. He has a certificate to prove it. Japan Warriors

Running back Nate Ilaoa’s football career apparently does not have an expiration date. Ilaoa is among six former Warriors who will compete in an all-star game in Japan next month. Ilaoa’s last UH was season was in 2006. He was drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles in 2007. He was cut before the 2007 started, then signed with Columbus of the Arena Football League. A golden year

It’s been quite a year for linebacker Corey Paredes. Earlier this year, Paredes married his long-time girlfriend, Liz. This past weekend, Liz gave birth to the couple’s first child, Sage Keahi Paredes. “She’s a big girl — 8 pounds, 4 ounces,” proud papa said. It wasn’t an easy delivery. Liz checked into the hospital Thursday afternoon. Forty hours later, Sage made her world debut. Adding to the drama was the past Saturday’s thunderstorm that knocked out power across Oahu. “They […]
