Cindy Luis covers University of Hawaii volleyball for the Star-Advertiser. She began her career as a sports journalist in Hawaii in 1981 with the Honolulu Star-Bulletin and was the sports editor, assistant sports editor, columnist and beat writer during a 31-year span before the paper became the Star-Advertiser. She graduated from UCLA in 1977 with a B.A. in Communication Studies.

From UH University of Hawaii freshman outside hitter Sinisa “Siki” Zarkovic was named the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Molten Player of the Week following his performance in the Warriors’ two-match sweep of then-No. 2 Pepperdine. Zarkovic (Belgrade, Serbia/Sports Grammar School) averaged 4.25 kills per set while hitting .393 during the series. Thought it a very impressive win tonight for Hawaii. first time in five home matches it didn’t go five. The Warriors kept lots of pressure on with their serves and much better tonight keeping it in (6 aces, 8 errors). Friday they had 21 errors and 8 aces. The game plan was to go to the middles early. Missed the initial showing but they are replaying it at halftime of the UH-UCSB men’s basketball game in a few minutes. it’s 255 pm now.
As Warrior Fan said , what a great win for Hawaii. Give them a lot of credit for hanging in there after the way Set 3 went. Zarkovic was money at the end 19-4-34 with 2 aces. He served the final five points. Marks was a bit inconsistant bue finished 12-8-26 with 16 digs and four blocks. Sedore 17-4-31 with 4 aces, 6 SE, four blocks. Torres finishes 20-11-41.
