Spoke with both Tamari Miyashiro and Karch Kiraly about next month’s matches. Miyashiro had back surgery (herniated disc) in March and was cleared to practice Wednesday. She isn’t sure if she’ll be ready for the Hawaii matches or if she’ll be named to the roster. Kiraly said he’s looking forward to playing in Hawaii, one of his favorite places. currently there are no plans for telecasts of the match. There may be radio. Not sure of that. As of today (6-9) 1100 tickets have been sold for July 11 match, 1200 for July 12 match.

U.S. wins 25-17, 27-25, 20-25, 25-27, 15-12 Christenson set the whole match, E. Shoji at libero. K Shoji came in to serve twice. Matt Anderson with 31 kills, Taylor Sander with 18. More when I get the full box.

Watched a replay of U.S. Bulgaria from May 25 last night. K.Shoji came in to set in place of Christenson in Set 2, after the U.S. dropped Set 1. Was on OC 211. Anyway, broadcasters has some nice things to say about Kawika and Erik, how they were from one of the first families of volleyball, mentioning Dave’s long career at UH. Micah Ma’a has been named to the Boys Youth Training Team, one of 19 U19 players and the only one from Hawaii. The team will be cut to 12 and compete this summer at the NORCECA Under-19 Continental Championship on July 14-20 in Tulsa, Okla., in conjunction with the USA Volleyball High Performance Championships. As far as I know, he is undecided about college.
