BYU looks solid, I think the MPSF will be a dogfight this year between BYU, UCLA, Pepp and Stanford. This maybe a year where the MPSF gets 2 teams into the finals!

    1. way too early to make any predictions.
MPSF got 2 in last year. Pepperdine and USC.

I’m a real fan of the no commercials livestream.

Tiff is so respectful of the players names, he always calls them by their last names. Even when he says the nickname, he will say their full name after. That’s why I love listening to Tiff. Such a big difference between Tiff and the other broadcasters on the mainland.

That third set was ugly volleyball, both teams hit .000 but the serving by Charleston was abysmal. Hawaii’s setting is very predictable, we will need to speed things up in order for us to beat better teams.

    6. It’s only the second match of the season and for the majority of the match the starters weren’t even playing! This is exactly what I was expecting! But I am impressed with the Warrior bench.

    5. glad you enjoy listening to him. I learn a lot sitting next to him. He works very hard at what he does.
    6. Not sure what your expections are but it’s the second match of the season. Set 3 had five freshmen getting in, one of them being a freshman setter. the only constant tonight was G. Worsley.
Set 3 was ugly. Charleston 10 service errors. Hawaii just five kills but also five blocks and three aces.
As for the speed, Thelle is not J. Worsley who ran a very fast offense. They’re figuring things out and working on the connection. I wouldn’t be too concerned.
Hawaii used 15 players so things will be ragged.

Nice to see almost all the players on the court this weekend.

How many games can a player play and still redshirt? Just wondering who might redshirt this year.

    Go Warriors!

    9. I think that’s only possible if an injury is involved. If you’re not injured and you play just one set, you’ve used up a year.

Whoever is doing the stats sheet and play-by-play documentation is insane. Vorburger and Voss are listed as Liberos! Same thing with all the stat pages from the Wahine’s last season.

  12. islandman January 5, 2020 8:19 am

Charleston hit .429 to UH’s .381 in the 1st set. Both teams had 12 kills but UH had one more error. Must be the service errors were the difference.

  13. islandman January 5, 2020 8:29 am

    8. Tiff is a good analyst for Wahine wbb with Dave Kawada on the radio.

Went to the game last night, and of course as expected, things are still being worked out by the team. Not sure how friday went, didn’t get a chance to watch it on tv, not sure if they have a normal line up but it was good to see that everyone for the most part got to jump onto the court ands some playing time. It will be interesting to see how this offense unfolds and progresses. I personally like the quicker offense Joe ran but since Thelle is a bit taller and point of contact is higher, it will look differently. Just need everyone to get in sync with each other tempo sets and what not. Can’t wait for the team to find their style and identity.

  15. WaWa January 6, 2020 7:43 am

#14 T103, THANK YOU for pointing that out about Thelle’s higher point of contact! I have seen certain sets appear higher/slower than normal, but casual observers aren’t going to take into the fact that a higher contact point will appear differently. With that being said, Thelle did struggle with some set location and definitely out of system bump sets. Overall, I think he did ok and he will be just fine.

I’m not gonna ask, buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuut…Chaz had oral surgery? O.o

Can you sort of fill me in here on this, Cindy?

  17. jm2375 January 6, 2020 12:25 pm

    16. Matt – wisdom teeth.

  18. Mytake January 6, 2020 4:15 pm

TW should be doing UH football play by play and make BC the color guy.

  19. islandman January 6, 2020 8:13 pm

I see Harlee Kekauoha, formerly with UCI, on the UH Beach VB roster

  20. islandman January 6, 2020 9:11 pm

Oh, Harlee was playing for Wahine bvb in December already.

  21. Crazy4WVB January 7, 2020 10:47 am

Cindy are the redshirt rules different for men and women?

  22. Hi5Ho January 7, 2020 3:43 pm

Will the Thursday match with Emmanuel be streamed? It’s listed on the Big West streaming site, but it’s not listed as a streaming option on the Men’s Schedule.

  23. Cindy Luis January 7, 2020 5:17 pm

    11. They are using the same program as the Wahine with the same problems.
    13. I think he does a nice job on basketball. Hard to do color and share air time when you’re used to going it alone like he does for volleyball.
14-15. Mentioned that in my story on the setters last week.
    16. all for wisdom teeth were pulled.
    19. mentioned that last year when they had fall practices and matches.
    22. all streamed. Thursday no TV so single camera synced with radio.
UH will probably update it later.
    Nw thread up for Tuesday
