I had missed unranked Memphis as being undefeated
The Tigers (11-1) lost their first match today to Southeast Missouri, 25-23, 25-27, 25-18, 25-14
ikely why Memphis isn’t ranked if you look at Pablo, The Tigers haven’t played anyone above 189 and four teams 303 and lower
Going into Saturday, the other unbeatens were No. 5 Baylor (8-0), NO. 6 Pitt (11-0), No. 13 Hawaii (10-0) and No. 24 Cal (9-0).

Based on the non conference season, who do you see as the biggest threat for Hawaii in BWC play?

  2. jmy September 21, 2019 4:30 pm

    1. UCSB

Washington beat Wisconsin in straight sets. More good news for Hawaii’s RPI.

    1. I think the biggest threat to Hawaii is the central coast road trip with back-to-back matches v UCSB and Cal Poly
    3. score has been updated. agree.

This team reminds me more and more of the 2004 squad that went undefeated in the regular season before finishing in the NCAA Tournament Regional Semis. Both have emerging stars (2004 – Prince, Watanabe, Arnott, Sanders, Hittle; 2019 – Rasmussen, Hellvig, Williams, Igiede, Van Sickle) and established setters (2004 – Kamana’o; 2019 – Choy and Iosia), except the 2004 team lost a bunch of superstars including 7 all-conference honorees and 3 AAs, while this year’s squad lost several starters but no AAs.

Mizzou did not beat us 25-15 in the 3rd game.

As has probably been posted previously…the Wahine are 10 -0, but will get maybe…an eighth page of coverage. Meanwhile, win or lose, the football team gets at least 3 pages of coverage. Is the Star Advertiser really that biased to football that no matter the results they get that kind of coverage?!! How many different ways can you report what they did wrong/right that it takes up 3 pages of coverage?!! Do they really bring in that much more revenue to deserve that much attention? It’s not so much the coverage as it is which team is really producing results against what odds?!!!
Not fair. Either way, GO BOWS! Keep your nose to the wheel and keep grinding it out!

Is there a link replay for Hawaii-Missouri game?

Very interesting…Baylor and UH are #1 and #2 in a current RPI estimator and UH has the ninth best SOS. This high non-conf RPI rank is critically important for UH if it hopes to host a subregional because I expect UH’s RPI to fall during conference play. I can’t recall the last time UH ranked this high at the end of non-conference play. I don’t think UH will end up with a top 4 RPI rank to qualify as a regional host even if they go undefeated, but they should be a solid subregional host in that scenario. Anyway, good battle between #1 and #2 today.

    7. thanks. just a typo
    8. nothing new. this is how football home games have always been covered I don’t determine the coverage.
Especially for an away volleyball match I’m just doing the rewrite so there’s only one story
    9. i don’t think Radio has a replay.
    new thread up for Sunday
