  10. Cindy Luis January 6, 2018 8:29 pm

SC with a 15-11 lead at the TTO.

  11. Cindy Luis January 6, 2018 8:33 pm

tough serving by Gage Worsley has SC out of system. UH has tied it at 15 after being down 15-11 Timeout Trojans.

  12. Cindy Luis January 6, 2018 8:38 pm

    Trojans up 20-18. TO UH

  13. Cindy Luis January 6, 2018 8:50 pm

interesting turn of events. SC was out of rotation. instead of a 20-18 lead, it ended up being tied at 19.
SC now challenging whether SVT was hit after his kill was blocked out of bounds.
    SC loses challenge. it’s 24-22.

  16. jm2375 January 7, 2018 8:00 am

Great game last night, watching the replay now. Wonder how often Gage will play as Rado’s sub in the back row.

BTW, just noticed that MVB banner in the SSC hasn’t been updated with the last TWO tournament appearances. What gives? They’ve already updated the Wahine banner with last season’s tournament.

  17. Ron January 7, 2018 10:33 am

Very impressed with this team. Joe W. is a magician. Smart coaching moves, well executed plays, great defense; this match had it all. We don’t lose anything when Mataitua goes in but that starting line-up will be hard to crack.

  18. kalihifc January 7, 2018 10:58 am

Impressed with Joe W. He jumps higher than one might expect. Seems to set at the very top of his jump. I don’t know how he can make some of those sets without double contacting. I loved the way he set the middle (Gasman) from about the 3 meter in last night’s game. I haven’t see Gage much, but I like Tui’s strength in serve receive and digging. He can pop up the hard hits.

  19. Ron January 7, 2018 1:08 pm

I also like Tui a lot. He is a natural leader and the glue that keeps this team together.

  20. Warriorfan January 7, 2018 3:28 pm

Super happy with this pin hitter lineup wish it was used last year but oh well , hope they gel and are peaking in May.

  21. islandman January 7, 2018 5:23 pm

Too early to tell how good they will be. Something like last year, fans were saying we were great early on.

  22. islandman January 7, 2018 5:36 pm

Charlie said they have a lot of work to do such as the blocking which he said was undisciplined and they have to work on their sideout offense, etc.

  23. amela January 7, 2018 8:50 pm

I like the sound of that, UH 3-USC Zero.

  24. roygbivs January 7, 2018 11:42 pm

Let’s hope we’re humble, stay hungry.

  25. kaleihulu January 8, 2018 1:12 am

    HawaiianTel customers still blacked out…ugh

  26. Hot January 8, 2018 5:58 am

    20. They used it a couple of times. Didn’t work.

  27. Warriorfan January 8, 2018 10:49 am

25 :no they didn’t they never used SVT and rosie at the left with rado on the right anyway glad they are now but can only imagine how good rado would be if he played more last season.

  28. jm2375 January 8, 2018 11:09 am

26 – they tried it last year on the road at Long Beach and lost both matches. The second match was a sweep and they lost badly. I think Stijn wasn’t ready to be on the left at the time.

  29. Ron January 8, 2018 12:47 pm

It really doesn’t ‘t matter about last year. LBS will be hard to beat this year too. I just think this line-up will give us our best chance. After watching the replay on Sun. ,I agree with Charlie, that Solbrig is the most improved player from last year and Joe W. is a close second . Parapunov needs to be on the court! Van Tilberg played great on the left. I have a great deal of faith in this team and I love their chemistry.

  30. islandman January 8, 2018 1:29 pm

    27. Yes, in the first LBSU match, on Jan 18, 2017, Rado hit .298 in 5 sets and Stijn .000 in 3 sets played.
In the 2nd match Rado hit minus .250 in 2 sets played and Stijn hit .300 in 3 sets.

  31. Warriorfan January 8, 2018 5:21 pm

Again Rosie wasn’t there they tried svt on the left but without rosie!
One match doesn’t mean anything svt struggled the first match but turned it around against usc.

  32. Warriorfan January 8, 2018 5:27 pm

One bad match should never determine that a right side player can’t switch to the left side, as svt is gonna show everyone.

  33. jm2375 January 8, 2018 7:17 pm

31 – Stijn has had all summer and fall to transition back to OH. Watch his interview in the pregame show. I think Charlie saw that, and since he had an abundance of talent at OH, he opted to keep Stijn at OPP.

    I am not a robot. 🙄

  34. Hot January 8, 2018 8:33 pm

    32. Agreed Van Tilburg had the preparation to return to OH, that’s why he’s been effective thus far.

    30. I thought you just meant putting Rado on the court and moving van Tilburg to OH, which was what you’ve been saying last year. Rosenmeier has improved from last year. Fey and Matautia were more efficient, so they probably would have done worse last year if they used this current pin hitter lineup.

  35. jm2375 January 8, 2018 9:05 pm

And, don’t forget, Stijn was named best OPP of the year.

  36. Ron January 9, 2018 6:21 am

Don’t forget that we have only seen the tip of the ice berg with Rado. He has the potential to be a truly dominate player in Men’s volleyball. Sit back and enjoy the ride volleyball fans.

  37. dmkc January 9, 2018 10:55 am

Does anyone know why Live hasn’t played?

  38. dmkc January 9, 2018 10:57 am

Correction: Does any one know why LIVA has not played?

  39. kahuna January 10, 2018 3:38 pm

I attended all of the game for men’s volleyball so far and watching warm ups…..I don’t think Liva will play very much, if any, this year at all. He is just not ready to contribute. Some might think…”Why not put him in when we play lesser team and the game is out of hand?” I would say that Wade wants to give time to Matt Larson….who I think has more potential to play in case one of the starters get hurt…than Liva. UH cannot afford to put Larson and Liva in at the same time in case they run out of substitution and get stuck with 2 inexperience MBs and risk losing the set.

Liva just doesn’t look like a MB. Maybe in a couple of years, he could develop into a serviceable MB but not now. Larson is only 6-5 but he has a high vertical and is quick off the ground.

Another thing to keep in mind….men’s volleyball only have a limited amount of substitution. Those substitutions should be best use to give players with potential to contribute rather then to give it to someone who have no chance to play. Any PT Liva get is taking away PT Larson would get and Larson has much more upside than Liva.

So, I am switching from Spectrum 16 to Hawaiian Telcom.
I will be getting faster internet and without the occasional pixelations on tv.
I won’t be “nickel and dimed” for every conceivable charge or surcharge for every conceivable thing.

I will lose only one thing. Live broadcast of Wahine volleyball. It’s the one thing Spectrum refuses to relinquish. I figure with more and more people wising up, they will soon have to give in to it. I guess the sponsors would request lower sponsorship fees eventually or bail out.

Oh, by the way. I’ll be saving $150.00 per month or $1,800.00 annually. My plan includes all services; phone, fax, internet, free dvr boxes (4) and cable at rates guaranteed for three years.

Oh, i’ll still support Robyn’s team. Perhaps attend more games.

    …nuff said

  41. Setaone January 10, 2018 5:18 pm

kaleihulu, men’s vb is on Hawaiian Telcom.

Al, there is always a way to watch Wahine vb!

  42. Empath January 11, 2018 10:11 am

Anyone know what’s going on with the Waikiki Beachcomber Tournament? Sacred Heart University is no longer listed as an opponent. It says TBA. Hopefully, they can get a team in soon.

  43. islandman January 11, 2018 4:46 pm

The team ran into some kind of weather problem in Nashville, per sports animals.

  44. Setaone January 11, 2018 5:28 pm

    GO WARRIORS!

  46. jm2375 January 12, 2018 8:29 am

BTW – Conference Carolinas is a DII conference, not DIII, otherwise, they wouldn’t be participating in the DI-II NCAA tournament.

  47. Cindy Luis January 12, 2018 4:52 pm

    45. thanks forgot to put up the link for the new thread for match postponed
and yes, you are correct about the DI not DIII

Liva hasn’t played because he hasn’t played. he may get in the tournament after UCLA.
