Describing it as the “hardest” move he has had to make, point guard Drew Buggs finalized his decision to leave the Hawaii basketball team.

Buggs, who entered the NCAA transfer portal in March, said he has narrowed his next school to Iowa State, Missouri or Loyola Marymount. Iowa State is where his parents met. Buggs said he hopes to make a decision this weekend.

As a fourth-year junior and co-captain, Buggs had per-game averages of 9.4 points, 5.4 assists and 4.5 rebounds this past season.

UH signed two point guards for the 2020 recruiting class: Biwali Bayles, who trains with Basketball Australia’s Centre for Excellence program, and JoVon McClanahan, who played the past season at Sheridan College in Wyoming.

Two other UH basketball players who entered the transfer portal have found new teams. Center Dawson Carper is joining Missouri State and guard Jessiya Villa is transferring to Chaminade.

Either Missouri or Iowa State would be as great move for Drew, but LMU? Not so much . . .

Maybe Closer to Home ? Best of Luck, Drew

Iowa State Cyclones Last Watched them on Maui (12-20)….and Missouri (MISERY15-16) where we got some of Our Best Transfers… Stefan Jankovic & Negus Webster-Chan…and LMU (11-21) Could ALL IMPROVE on their Records of Last Year IF they get Drew…

Got to give mahalos to Buggs…rare situation where player gets to spend time in one place, heal, develop, and excel, but is still able to transfer without penalty and contribute elsewhere and experience another place where they will welcome him…and looks like Hawaii is fine with the kid (Webster) and the new guys coming in…a Win Win Win hopefully!

Wbb’s Lauren Rewers is transferring to Michigan St.

Univ of Arizona president doubts the game vs UH will be played on Aug 29 and is really concerned whether college football will be played in the fall.

Thank goodness he is not transferring to a BWC school. That would hurt.

Oh jeez…if Rewers leaving the program was because of Falkowska moving in, that’s gotta sting. The depth at center could be thinner for Coach B’s case.

Iowa State. Excellent choice. Right in the heart of the Midwest where basketball and wrestling are king. He gets to play against Iowa, Kansas, Kansas State, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Drake,Texas, Baylor, ViriniaTech, and many more high powered teams Plus the Hilton Coliseum is a first class arena. Academia wise, it is one of the best public schools in the USA.

Iowa State pg heading for NBA. Drew would be great addition for them. Hate to see him go. I will miss those beautiful dimes he dished over past three years. Tough, scrappy, and terrific leader. Best of luck young man!
