Tuulima is impressive in the middle

The Warriors are set for their final Saturday practice ahead of next week’s opener at UMass. The practice will begin at 1:30 p.m., which equates to nearly halftime next week.

This also will be a chance to decide on the final spots on the 68-player travel roster.

One of the surprises of camp is Taaga Tuulima, who has practiced as the No. 2 center. He is a second-year freshman from Iolani who has displayed quickness in identifying defenses and firing out of his stance. With all the cross training — Asotui Eli, Fred Ulu-Perry, John Wa‘a and Chris Posa can play center — Tuulima might not necessarily be the “next man up.” But he has proven the past two weeks that he is a reliable option in the middle.

Good for this young man. You need all the players you can get along the front on both sides. Nice to see some young guys developing.

Tsai, you should don a straw hat,
    wear a Robert Kealoha shirt,
and be sipping a pineapple drink…
instead of that HPD photo of you.
You look like a robot 🙂

    Just got back from watching today’s practice. No pads ; just position and walk-through. OL 1s were 50, 51, 65, 60 and 64. 2s were 67, 77, 63, 57 and 72.

jm2375 – Let me know if/when you’ll be in DC. I’m on the road for work quite a bit between mid-Sep and early-Nov, but am glad to meet up again if the dates line up!

So according to observation of Sat practice the two deep were Allen Waa Eli Posa and Ulu-Perry. The 2’s were Kipper Sunia Tuulima Hensley and Norman. Top to bottom not bad. So either due to injury or something else Graves is not in the mix. Right now I would say they have eight overall moving parts with possible 9 who can perform at a winning level. Here’s hoping for a healthy season-
