I think what Big Island Volleyball Fan meant by Rado’s parents being hard on him was Rado went on TV saying that when he told his father he was the national player of the week, his father said that it should be about the team and not just him or words to that effect. He also said on TV that when he went home during summer and felt like he didn’t accomplish much in the two years that he has been here, his father said he is a little overweight which caused him to get into better shape and become a better player. And they didn’t use the word “Overweight” but I don’t want to be harsh. I felt the same way in that I felt his parents were hard on him too but it seems to have made him a better player this year. He was not happy with his up and down games last year. He has had a great year so far. Good luck at BYU!!!

    1. thank. i did not see the TV interview.
in the story I did on Parapunov that ran several weeks ago, I quoted him saying his father told him he was chubby and slow.
That was in response to him telling his dad that his two years at UH felt like 20 and that it felt like he hadn’t gotten anywhere with his career. For sure he has bettered his work ethic and he and the rest of the team have really bought into the commitment to being better every day.

Hope that BYU has some buffer between the student section and the playing court for the match against Hawaii. Their student section, from what I have seen on TV, is very close to the players and is rather vulgar to our foreign players. Considering how many foreign players BYU has, this behavior is unacceptable for a highly religious school. BYU students don’t practice what they preach.

new thread up about Warriors sweeping.
    3. there won’t be. this has been going on for decades. It goes beyond rudeness. there has been vulgarity and anti-ethnic comments.
