Think this got buried a week ago

Go emily. Not sure if she’s starting. But getting PT is awesome fora first year national team player.

Mags started and played every match at MH2. She did well. Canada hadn’t won a medal at the PanAmCup since 2002, the 1st year of the Cup. It’s a young team with a lot of former NCAA talent. Lot’s of fun to watch.

Congrats to Maglio! She was starting most of the tournament which is pretty cool.

Sand Bows pick up a transfer from Utah, Kristen Abels! She only played indoor there so she should have four years of eligibility here.

I say we got a players with lots of potential. Played OH in HS and Libero in college so she got the tools. Also got some volleyball smarts so I can see her being a starter in the near future.

Go Emily! You make us proud carrying on your legacy like that!

On another note, boy howdy I musta missed the memos on our current indoor Wahine Volleyball team cause I noticed they’re building up the roster page and I saw people I hadn’t seen before. I knew about Trinity Castaneda and Angel Gaskin, but didn’t know about Kamalei Krug (Fr), Reyn Akiu(Sr) and Sarah Liva(Sr). Anyone shed any light? Go Bows!

Just reviewed updated Wahine VB roster and did not see Liliana Light listed. Is she coming?

  8. Ran July 17, 2018 8:06 am

Liliana Light is at Santa Clara, I believe…

    Is Leka Kiner-Falefa redshirting?

  10. Hot July 17, 2018 4:04 pm

    8. She’s not attending UH. Maybe on her final year, she’ll transfer to UH, if she’s eligible.

    6. She’s not.

    5. They’re walk-ons. Akiu was the Libero for Texas Tech before getting injured. Liva is a basketball player who played volleyball for Portland State in 2014-2015. She was a starting middle there. IIRC, Krug is a middle but may also play left or right at UH.

Mahalos Hot for the update! I thought I read somewhere that Robyn may try Howling at oppo. Any truth to that?
Can’t wait for the season to start!
    Go Bows!

Anyone know if Skyler Williams has grown since enrolling as a freshman? Looking at recent photos, she really looks to be nearly 6-3.

  13. rabbit ears July 19, 2018 8:41 am

#11 Hope she shares the secret with her teammates.

  14. Kahuna July 19, 2018 10:03 am

Skyler was one of the players working the youth camp about a week ago and I didn’t really noticed her being any taller. I’m sure she got stronger with her going thru a strength and weight program but I doubt she is 6-3. She still looks shorter than Sophia who is listed at 6-2.

Doesn’t matter how tall she is though. If she can get quicker and increase her vertical, she can be very effective.

Thanks Ran, Hot and Kahuna for the feedback. Appreciate it much.

    Sorry for the delay
    6. mentioned the walk-ons a while ago, particularly Akiu when going to national team tryouts with Granato and Ionia.
    7. No, mentioned a while back she was not.
    9. currently not in school. may be available in 2019
as for who plays where, they have options to move players around. We’ll see if Howling ends up on the right.
