Hey, I’m a grandpa!

Mia Kimiko Tsai-Bechard is 21 inches and … hey, they kicked me out of the room before I could find out if I won the weigh-in pool.

Colt: "It's not true"

By Stephen Tsai on August 15, 2009

Colt Brennan called to say there’s no truth to the Jessica Simpson rumors. “It’s not true,” Brennan said. “I’ve never even met her. I think it’s hilarious how these things get around. … Maybe somebody will start one about Megan Fox.” He also said it would be “hysterical” if Tono Romo had started the rumor. “That would  be the ultimate prank,” Brennan said. * * * * * Today’s practice — which will feature a 7-on-7 scrimmage — is the […]

Colt?!?

By Stephen Tsai on August 14, 2009

Colt’s dad says this story is not true: http://www.celebitchy.com/65687/jessica_simpson_in_new_romance_with_tony_romos_archenemy/ * * * * * At first glance, it appears UH has little to gain from moving the starting times up an hour for WAC home games (which will allow visiting teams to catch the redeye flight that night and save the cost of an extra night’s stay). Better for the kids? It’s a Saturday night. Kids stay up late on weekends. More exposure on the West Coast? It’s a Saturday […]

Earlier start for UH's WAC home games

By Stephen Tsai on August 13, 2009

In a decision inspired by Fresno State coach Pat Hill’s suggestion, UH’s home games against WAC opponents will now start at 5 p.m. Please adjust your tailgate schedules. * * * * For the Warriors, the treatment might be worse than the injury. UH head coach Greg McMackin does not allow ailing players to spend practices in the training room. Instead, they are required to go through grueling exercises, such as sit-ups while weighted down by a 50-pound bar or […]

Torres, Paredes earn scholarships; Taylor transfers

By Stephen Tsai on August 12, 2009

UH head coach Greg McMackin today awarded football scholarships to safety/nickelback Richard Torres and linebacker Corey Paredes. * * * * Rick Taylor has transferred to South Alabama, a Division I-AA school. Because Taylor left UH in good academic standing, the Warriors will not be deducted any APR points. All of Taylor’s UH credits transferred. He needs seven classes to earn a bachelor’s degree. After that, he will start work toward a master’s degree. Taylor has two seasons of eligibility […]

Monday ramblings

By Stephen Tsai on August 10, 2009

Some thoughts: • While it was surprising to learn that Malcolm Lane will redshirt this season, the move does ease a crowded situation. Backup wideouts Jovonte Taylor, Royce Pollard and Joe Avery are deserving of playing time. And, if needed, UH also can switch Greg Salas back to wideout, opening the way for reserve slotbacks Dustin Blount, Ryan Henry, Jon Medeiros and Jeremiah Ostrowski. • Center John Estes and middle linebacker Brashton Satele are logical choices to be named co-captains. […]

Lane to redshirt

By Stephen Tsai on August 9, 2009

Malcolm Lane, who was projected as a No. 1 right wideout, told the Warrior Beat yesterday he will redshirt this season to focus on academics. Lane is in good academic standing with both the school and the NCAA. But by redshirting, it will enable Lane to earn a bachelor’s degree in December 2010. That would mean his graduation and the end of his NCAA career would coincide. Lane did not redshirt in his first three UH seasons. Jovonte Taylor has […]
