Fonoti’s availability: “Very probable”

Head coach Greg McMackin said it is “very probable” defensive end Fetaiagogo “John” Fonoti will play in Friday’s opener against Central Arkansas. It was feared Fonoti suffered a serious injury to his left knee when he was carted off the practice field this morning. Game week started with this morning’s practice on Cooke/Ching Field. Several notes: • It appears that Brent Rausch has nudged ahead of Bryant Moniz in the competition for the No. 2 quarterback’s job. Off day

The coaches and players were given today as an off day as they head into the final stretch before Friday’s season opener against Central Arkansas. But many of the coaches still plan to be busy, setting the practice schedule, evaluating videos and finalizing the game plan. The Warriors had their first — and only — dress rehearsal under the Aloha Stadium lights tonight.
