Calls of duty

By Stephen Tsai on February 28, 2013

For more than 30 years, the game-day image was Norm Chow in the coaches’ booth, charts spread in front, as he checked coverages and called plays. That was until last year, when he called plays from the sidelines as the Warriors’ head coach. Chow will always have the final say in offensive plays. But now it appears he has found someone who shares the same offensive philosophy and language. Aaron Price, the newly named offensive coordinator, is expected to have […]

No surprise — see pictures below — but Aaron Price has been named the Warriors’ offensive coordinator and receivers coach. Price will assist in crafting game plans, although head coach Norm Chow remains as the primary play-caller and quarterbacks coach. (Graduate assistant Jordan Wynne also will  help with the quarterbacks.) Chow also announced these changes: • Chris Wiesenhan moves from offensive line coach to running backs coach. • Chris Naeole, who played in 12 NFL seasons, is the offensive line […]

Former UH cornerback Mike Edwards’ best time in the 40 was either 4.47 seconds or 4.56 seconds at today’s NFL Scouting Combine. The NFL Network listed Edwards’ second attempt at 4.47 seconds — a time that NFL teams reported to Edwards. But several hours later, the network listed Edwards’ best time at 4.56 seconds. Each NFL team keeps its own times for draft-assessment purposes. The “official” times are used for draft analysts. Edwards’ had a slow time in his first […]

Still going

By Stephen Tsai on February 25, 2013

Offensive lineman R.J. Hollis’ commitment shows that the Warriors are not done constructing the 2013 team. In addition to the impending signing of David Fangupo, a Kealakehe defensive lineman and Internet sensation, the Warriors have room to sign at least one more to this year’s class. There is space because three recruits are expected to grayshirt and quarterback Aaron Zwahlen is going on a two-year church mission. * * * * * The Warriors still remain in the hunt for […]
