Cindy Luis covers University of Hawaii volleyball for the Star-Advertiser. She began her career as a sports journalist in Hawaii in 1981 with the Honolulu Star-Bulletin and was the sports editor, assistant sports editor, columnist and beat writer during a 31-year span before the paper became the Star-Advertiser. She graduated from UCLA in 1977 with a B.A. in Communication Studies.

Warrior-49er rewind

Not much to say. Without West, a very different team. Wade used 12 players searching for something. Sedore with a season-high 16 kills, hit 263. Warriors hit 153 for the night, 49ers 363. Crabb with 12 kills for The Beach. kanetake 11 digs. Hawaii outblocked 12.5-8.5.

6 p.m. Jan. 19 at the Stan Sheriff Center From Al Chee Individual tickets are $75.  This is a “grazing-type” event with food stations for an all-you-can-consume format.  Beer, wine and soft drinks included.  Folks can pay at the door either by check or credit card.  Silent auction includes Las Vegas packages and a handful of unique live auction items.  

Hartong to train with NT

A well-deserved recognition.  Dinner is this Sunday. from UH: Former University of Hawaii men’s volleyball standout Tom Pestolesi will receive the Pae Makaukau Alumni recognition award at the 4th Annual A‘o a Koa Scholarship Dinner which supports the Rainbow Warrior volleyball program.
