Cindy Luis covers University of Hawaii volleyball for the Star-Advertiser. She began her career as a sports journalist in Hawaii in 1981 with the Honolulu Star-Bulletin and was the sports editor, assistant sports editor, columnist and beat writer during a 31-year span before the paper became the Star-Advertiser. She graduated from UCLA in 1977 with a B.A. in Communication Studies.

CSUN adds sand vb, sport closer to NCAA championship

Believe this gives the sport 31 teams. 40 required for NCAA to sponsor a championship. Quite a growth heading into its third season. California State University, Northridge announced the addition of women’s sand volleyball as the Matadors’ 19th intercollegiate sport Friday. Jeff Stork, head coach of the Matadors’ indoor volleyball team, will be the head coach of the sand team. Hawaii stays at No. 10 in AVCA poll, No. 9 VB Mag

A little surprised the Rainbow Warriors stayed put at No. 10 Pepperdine moves up to 1 from 3 (12 votes) and Loyola-Chicago stays at No. 2 with the other six votes. UCLA up 3 to No. 3, USC up 1 from No. 4 and Long Beach drops to fifth from 4. BYU up to  from 8 UCI tied with UCSB for eighth. http://www.avca.org/divisions/men/1-2-poll-1-20-14/

Will be out on assignment so won’t be able to post when it comes out. If someone sees it before I get back, would you mind putting up where Hawaii is? I think they’ll move up to around 8. and for those who missed it on an earlier thread … Oceanic only televising one of this week’s UCSD matches. Believe they’ll only be there Friday, not Sunday. As others have suggested, you are welcome to call OC to complain.

Warrior – 49er rewind Night 2

A very good win for the Rainbow Warriors tonight. it ties the series at 38-38 one of the keys was early, in Set 1, where they opened with Timmer serving. in men’s volleyball you only have 6 subs and can only re-enter once.
