Cindy Luis covers University of Hawaii volleyball for the Star-Advertiser. She began her career as a sports journalist in Hawaii in 1981 with the Honolulu Star-Bulletin and was the sports editor, assistant sports editor, columnist and beat writer during a 31-year span before the paper became the Star-Advertiser. She graduated from UCLA in 1977 with a B.A. in Communication Studies.

UCLA sweeps Ohio State

A very quick 75 minutes and it wasn’t as close as the scores. Bruins win 25=15, 25-23, 25-21, UCLA with nine aces, Quiroga with 5. Their 7-foot opposite Page with 12 kills. Buckeyes were 6-6-22 in Set 1. UCLA played HBA grad Michael Fisher 7-3-13. went with their backup libero in Smith.

98 minutes, not a bad start. Warriors will have to do a better job blocking Friday against Penn State. UH got outblocked 7.5-3 tonight by the Buckeyes. And probably serve better. 14 SEs, although they cut it down after 7 in Set 1. Thought Ramos did a nice job of set distribution.
