Hawaii All-American Brittany Tiegs teamed with Florida State’s Jace Pardon to win the beach volleyball gold medal Sunday at the World University Championship in Porto, Portugal. The U.S. pair defeated Kim Behrens and Sandra Seyfferth of Germany, 21-18, 21-12 in the final.

From USAV The U.S. Men’s National Team defeated the world’s No. 1 Brazil 3-1 (31-29, 21-25, 25-20, 25-23) on Sunday, to clinch the FIVB World League gold medal for a second time in the team’s history. Taylor Sander (Huntington Beach, Calif.), led Team USA in points for the third-consecutive match. Sander notched 24 points in the contest on 22 kills, earning him MVP honors of the tournament. For football, the mini pack includes either the Washington or Oregon State game; the Northern Iowa game; and two of the four Mountain West games. Micah Ma’a (Punahou) playing at opposite had five kills and three aces as the U.S. Boys’ Youth National  team won the NORCECA U19 Boys’ Continental Championship when defeating Cuba 25-23, 25-21, 25-20 Saturday in Tulsa, Okla. Ma’a also was in on two blocks. The U.S. qualified for the FIVB U19 World Championship when sweeping Mexico Friday at the Cox Business Center.
