By Stephen Tsai on August 26, 2018

FORT COLLINS >> When a considerable underdog pulls off an upset, the way the Warriors did yesterday, it would be easy to blame the oddsmakers for getting it wrong. The thing is, the oddsmakers got it right. The Warriors deserved to be underdogs. They faced survivor’s guilt when they departed the islands while a hurricane approached. They were squished in the back third of a commercial flight. Any other Division I head coach have a seat in the 39th row? […]

Football Throwbacks: Colorado State

By Brian McInnis on August 25, 2018

We’re introducing a new series here at Hawaii Warrior World: Throwbacks. Starting with the 2018 UH football season, look for a new Throwback on game days about UH’s long-running (or in some cases, quite short) all-time series with that day’s opponent. It starts today with Colorado State (1:30 p.m. HST kickoff, CBS Sports Network). This series has not gone the way of the Rainbow Warriors for quite some time. The CSU Rams, a 17-point favorite today in Fort Collins, have […]

By Stephen Tsai on August 25, 2018

FORT COLLINS >> Middle linebacker Jahlani Tavai will not play in today’s game because of what is termed a violation of team rules, school officials confirmed today. Tavai practiced with the scout team this week. He traveled with the team to Colorado, and was in full uniform during pre-game warmups. * * * * * The 2018 season opens with today’s game between Hawaii and host Colorado State. That means there will be answers to these questions: > Will the […]

If Wahine-KSU play Sunday closed to public; Top 25 scores

By Cindy Luis on August 24, 2018

From UH: A decision on the potential women’s volleyball match between Hawaii and Kansas State will not be made until after Hurricane Lane’s impact on Oahu has been assessed. If the decision is made to play the Sunday match, it will be closed to the public due the short time frame and unknown factors of the storm hinders ability to assemble the necessary staff to ensure public safety for a large group. We are working on having a single-camera video […]
