Food bank

Here’s a cash-back deal: The Hawaii Food Industry Association will be presenting an endowment of more than $900,000 to the UH Foundation during a ceremony today. The money is actually earmarked for the athletic department. UH head coach Norm Chow will be presented the endowment check on behalf of UH. Shutter suspended 4 games

UH today announced that quarterback Cayman Shutter will be suspended for the first four games of the 2012 season as a result of  his no-contest plea to a drunken-driving charge. He had been suspended for violating team rules (the arrest on March 29). This suspension is based on breaking UH’s Code of Conduct (accepting the driving while “impaired” charge) He will be allowed to participate in the offseason conditioning program. Joby Ramos, a former All-State volleyball setter/libero from Roosevelt High, said he will be joining the volleyball Warriors this fall. The men’s volleyball past and present meet when a combination USA/Hawaii team practice this week at UH in preparation for the 24th Asian Pacific Cup. Cornerback Mike Edwards is indeed a skilled football player.  That was apparent when he practiced several times as an emergency receiver in 2011, in addition to his duties as a corner and kickoff returner.
