She began her career as a sports journalist in Hawaii in 1981 with the Honolulu Star-Bulletin and was the sports editor, assistant sports editor, columnist and beat writer during a 31-year span before the paper became the Star-Advertiser. She graduated from UCLA in 1977 with a B.A. in Communication Studies.

sorry some internet issues … UCLA wins 25-21, 25-12, 21-25, 27-25 Santa Clara was serving 24-22 in Set 4 to send it to 5 but … the Bruins rally to pull it out. Stauber set very well, sharing time with Moenoa. Stauber with 18 assists, Moenoa started. 24 assists. Lowe with 19 kills for the Bruins. UH match will start a little late. maybe 740
TV DVR note if you’re going to the matches: 9 p.m. KGMB (Ch 7) has the Dave Shoji Special. might conflict watching the match on TV if first match goes longer than 2 hours. Some comments: Felt they should have beaten USD, knew they’d be tough, a veteran team that had great ball-control, maybe better ball-control than UH had Felt Texas was easier to prepare for. Had been waiting on the poll and POW to post before starting my first real day off in a while. Did get a nice paddle in early this morning (we’re on the water at 7 a.m.). Hawaii senior hitter Emily Hartong was named the Big West player of the week in women’s volleyball today, her fifth BWC honor since the Rainbow Wahine changed conferences last year. The 6-2 outside hitter had 18 kills, seven digs and two blocks in Friday’s upset of No. 1 Texas.
