Cindy Luis covers University of Hawaii volleyball for the Star-Advertiser. She began her career as a sports journalist in Hawaii in 1981 with the Honolulu Star-Bulletin and was the sports editor, assistant sports editor, columnist and beat writer during a 31-year span before the paper became the Star-Advertiser. She graduated from UCLA in 1977 with a B.A. in Communication Studies.

No surprise. Hawaii freshman Nikki Taylor (Kaiser HS) led the offensive charge in a pair of conference home wins, earning Big West Women’s Volleyball Player of the Week accolades.The 6-3 outside hitter hit a resounding .444 in straight set wins over UC Davis and Cal State Northridge, combining for 26 kills on 45 swings with only six errors.Taylor had 11 kills, six digs and a block in UH’s 25-19, 25-17, 25-19 win over the Aggies.  She also compiled a match-high […]
